Sagna: ‘Dad’ Wenger fills us with confidence

Sagna: ‘Dad’ Wenger fills us with confidence

Bacary Sagna believes that Lukas Podolski has the qualities to help Arsenal win a trophy next season and stressed Arsene Wenger’s importance to squad confidence by describing him as a father figure.

Speaking last weekend on duty for the club in Nigeria, the French international, who is still recovering from his second broken leg in seven months, spoke positively about the coming season.

“We will have a great team and we just hope to win something next season,” said the right-back.

“We will like to win the Premier League and I think we are getting even more powerful. We are signing new players and we look forward to a great season.

“The new players in the team are talented. For instance Podolski was named as the Best Young Player at the 2006 World Cup in Germany. He is very young, very powerful and he has some pace and can even score. So, he will bring a lot to the team; we need these kind of players.”

“I think Wenger is more than a coach and that is crucial for us. He is like our dad. He stays positive even when we play badly. When we are losing a game he keeps encouraging us.

“It was evident last season when we were in 10th position and we managed to win a Champions League spot by the time the season eventually ended.”

Despite his fitness problems the Frenchman also explained that he is as determined as ever to please Arsenal fans across the globe.

“Last season was a bit disappointing because I had two bad injuries in seven months. But I had to stay positive. I want to play football and I keep working hard. I am looking forward to next season.

“We are doing our best in Europe to make our fans happy. We know we have lot of fans here (Nigeria). It’s a big opportunity to come and meet them. I am looking forward to come back with the team next year if I have the opportunity.”

  3. Very positive Bac. But if I woke up next to Ludvig Sagna every day I’d be positive too

    • Ashley cole I reckon was a sweet sweet mum, him being a cunt through out the calendar year and all.
Wenger is now a better dad/manager and not the one to be pushed around by cunts….samir,ade,cole…..(rvp pending).

    • I liked it.

    • Oh shut up…if he signs a new contract you’ll be singing he scores when he wants again and that you always believed in him…

Thumb up 10 Thumb down 37

      • Ha fuck that! Arsenal doesn’t need RVP anymore, we have strengthened by anticipating his absence, so he can fuck right off now. Don”t need that sort of presence a the Arsenal :)

      • I agree if he stays and apologises for his insolence he should be cheered heartily on as captain of this football club he is an asset to any team no one can deny that.

  8. The guy’s had a few broken leg incidents. I don’t call that ‘injury problems’ (suggestion he is ‘injury prone?’). I call that ‘stupid club-footed cunts running around the premier league’.

    • I understand your worries, but the last tackle against Sagna was not even malicious, and we have put in worse several times (especially Wilshere a season ago).

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 17

      • the last tackle against sagna wasnt malicious. Are you really serious? Pls go and read Sagna’s statement after the game about the tackle and then come back and re-define the word ‘malicious’ for me.

  9. 27 y/o Podolski ery young???:D:D

So this is how the myth has been building up.

    Santos – Vermaelen – Koscielny – Sagna

    Arteta – Diaby – Cazorla

    Gervinho – Giroud – Podolski

I could put down a first team together that doesn’t have one outfield player under 25.

  10. Persie out, arsenal lives

And by the way, now that we’re buying far more experienced and top class players can squillaci do a rvp and leave?. Only this time, because the clubs ambitions are too high for him to cope with.

    Just a thought.

  11. If/when RVP goes Bac would be a frontrunner for the armband i would think

Thumb up 7 Thumb down 1

  12. As i was reading through the post happened to picture Sagna being the BOSS giving out directions to his players.
Would love to see a manager with that kinda hair.

  13. I have always liked this guy. He didn’t need time to adjust to the Premier League – he was great immediately. He became legendary to me in the 5-2 Tottenham game. He started the mauling with his awesome header. In his post game interview, he described the tiny tots as “Ze enemy”.
Bac, we salute you, the epitome of a TRUE Gooner.
Now, as for Robin Van WhoGivesAFuckAboutThisDickHeadPersie, after advising one of our kids to leave the Arsenal for Turkey, after his poisonous web page posting, he is precisely what we don’t want at the club. Even if he stays, he would continue to undermine the efforts and good intentions of the club.

Thumb up 41 Thumb down 1

    • Who did he advise to go to turkey? I won’t ever boo and Arsenal player but you won’t see me cheering van Persie’s name if he’s announced in the starting line up, and I’ll skip his programme notes too.
As for Sagna I remember thinking who on earth is this right back we’ve just signed when I heard of the signing, but after just a couple of games you could see he was going to be a true member of the gooner family. He and his wife even interact with fans on twitter which I think is cool too. Would love to see him handed the armband once mr One season does the off

      • RVP advised Oğuzhan Özyakup to leave Arsenal. The fecking team captain should never advise anyone to leave. He should inspire them to list their performance and dedication to starting 11 quality and fight for a place.
The full interview is here: http://www.turkish-football.com/news_read.php?id=3170

Thumb up 7 Thumb down 0

      • Thanks for the article. But it doesn’t exactly make RvP out to be a villain. He welcomed young Ozyakup to the team, encouraged and mentored him, but after it became obvious that the young Turk hadn’t a real chance for first team play at the Emirates and received an offer for first team play elsewhere, RvP merely confirmed the young man in his decision that taking the Turkish side’s offer was best for his career.

Thumb up 4 Thumb down 0

      • Yeah, that’s great. So what happens when all the other players in the team “list their performance and dedication to starting 11 quality and fight for a place” and that player is still left out?

You would be on here like all those other moaning twats, going on about “WHY HAVEN’T WE SOLD THIS PLAYER? ALL HE DOES IS SIT AROUND COLLECTING WAGE CHEQUES AND NOT DOING ANYTHING! WENGER OUT!”

Ozzy did the right thing. He’s at the point where he felt he should be playing every week in his desired position and he went to a team where he could do that. Simples.

Thumb up 4 Thumb down 2

      • ThereIsBearcum (really?) “list” should have been”lift”. I know Blogs has a computer geek in chains, locked away in the Arseblog dungeon feverishly writing the code for an edit key so we can fix typos in our posts.
As for your point of view, surely once you become the team captain, you have a greater responsibility to the team/club. Surely, if this was good advise, we would have virtually no talent left at the academy.
I would have no issue whatsoever with RVPs advice if he wasn’t team captain. As the captain, the supervisor, the manager, the director, or the boss, you MUST act in the best interest of the organization, business, club.

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

    • I don’t think RvP should keep the armband if he stays.

Thumb up 5 Thumb down 2

    • No I dont think he’s amphibian, would you do well under water?. I don’t think you would sir.

  15. Love Bac. Absolute legend.

  16. Who did he advise to go to turkey?

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

  17. We need Bac-man not Robin. Robin is poisoined by Ivy.

  18. Who needs Robin when we have Bacman

  19. Unleash the Bacman! Robin can go fly with the bats.
