Wenger laments woeful FA Cup exit

Wenger laments woeful FA Cup exit

There aren’t really any excuses for losing at home in the FA Cup to an outfit as shambolic as Blackburn Rovers but this Arsenal team seem to thrive on testing the patience and loyalty of even the most ardent supporters with performances so tawdry they’d shame even the most hungover pub team.

Speaking after the game about what he’d witnessed from his squad, Arsene Wenger’s accepted that the 90 minutes was far from acceptable.

“I do not want go too too much into detail but I believe we were really guilty on the goal.

“Not one defeat is acceptable. You are in this job to win every single game,” he continued.

“It is very painful and very disappointing to lose a game like that. What is important now is to focus on the next one.”

Having missed out on another trophy the boss also accepted that the fans were well within their rights to voice dissatisfaction.

“I can understand it [the boos]. You do not want your fans to be happy when you lose at home to Blackburn when the team has one shot on goal.

“I leave all the headlines and the definite thinking to you. Football is much more unpredictable than that and I believe that 16 years without losing against a lower league team (casually forgetting losses against Burnley and Ipswich), no one has done it so that means up until now the record has been quite good.

“It is very disappointing that the two defeats have happened in the same season (remembering Bradford at least) but I prepared these two in the same way that I did in the 16 years before. If you lose a game people will be very unhappy, I am as well, don’t you worry.”

On this occasion Arseblog News really can’t be bothered to dissect any of the above.

    • Just go away Arsene. Ruining all the great work you did.

Thumb up 135 Thumb down 129

      • I hate to admit this but Arsenal will get roasted by Bayern. Please retire Wenger as I can’t stand the unreasonable excuses…

Thumb up 100 Thumb down 60

      • At another top european club, would a manager who has not won anything for the past 8 years (regardless of qualifying for the UCL every year) been allowed to continue?.

I’m not in any way saying that Arsene should be sacked. But this situation could only be tolerated at Arsenal meaning deep within the organization there’s a mentality that trophies are no longer of arsenals concern, as long as there’s a manager who knows how to maintain a good financial model while qualifying for UCL each year (dust on the fans eyes) and threatening to compete for trophies…but only just, never really doing it in truth.

It’s not Arsene (he’s only a third part to blame)…it’s the hierachy at the club who allow this to go on.

Thumb up 97 Thumb down 14

      • It is a shame. These days he seems more happy to go with “I hope this pays off” rather than actually doing what’s right. Here’s a thought arsene… Stop trying to prove everyone else wrong, put your tail between your fucking legs and go out and buy the players we deserve. Stop selling our fucking vital squad members just so you can pick up a guy for a 9th of the cost and say I told you so.

Here’s a thought Wenger, maybe after 8 years of the fans telling you want and where to strengthen, maybe we are right and your 20 years of coaching don’t mean shit if you can’t adapt with the times.

Thumb up 71 Thumb down 9

      • bbc was reporting that the arsenal dressing room was still closed for about half an hour after the match and am sure a dressdown was going on in there …why cant arsene just come out for once and say as it is…like..”that was, frankly, bollocks”

Thumb up 58 Thumb down 2

      • We don’t have enough resources: teams like Swansea, Blackburn, Bratford have at least 50 times less money and supposedly weak squads, yet they beat us

Wenger doesnt’ receive enough money: The board has given Wenger enough money to buy at least two extra, actual top players and not 7 shitty ones we can’t offload later. Blame Wenger, sorry

Who can take the wheel later, only WEnger: No, even Laudrup, Pellegrini, Henckes, lots of coaches do a better job considering they aren’t part of one of the 5 richest clubs in the world with great players. ANY other COACH has a plan B and can adapt to different strategies, WEnger now uses only 1 lineup and his plan B is Gervinho.

We were unlucky with injuries, offloading importnat players. etc: the phyisios at Arsenal must be the worst ever. It’s not a coincidence we have such numbers with injuries.
the problem is the salary? Wenger, has like the 3rd best salary for a football coach in the world. GEt a paycut then!

We don’t want to be like City or Chelsea: Sure we don’t. But in 30 years they will have at least 10 more trophies and we will have nothing. Nobody will remember if it’s due to injuries, luck, mentality, whatever. Winning counts. Arsenal aren’t a feeder club, Arsenal used to be considered one of the world’s best. Waht is the purpose of competing? is it having friends? participating? It’s WINNING!

It’s the board’s fault only, Wenger has nothing to do with it: ACtually it’s also partly your fault. The board fills his pockets BECAUSE OF WENGER and fan’s faithfulness no matter what. They know WEnger guarantees the same kind of football, the appearance of not being like Chelsea or M Shitty, lots of fans who believe in Wenger more than their own lives, the previous titles he earned when he actually had some ambition and wasn’t that stubborn and stingy

We must be grateful to Wenger, he gave us what we are now: yes Wenger, thank you, your time is over. IF it’s due to gratitude, then let’s bring Seaman, Wright, Bergkamp, van Bronkhorst, Petit…. The present is now, thanks but we need change.

The only winner of this all is Kroenke

Thumb up 46 Thumb down 19

      • It’s especially infuriating when you know he’s one of the highest paid managers in the world with 7mil a year – same as Ferguson

Thumb up 25 Thumb down 3

      • as arsenal fan, If you’re not feelin mad about arsenal now, then i’d to call you RETARDED as ffffffuck.

this situation just like another day, but wenger never learn! against BAYERN would be huge. but yesterday its only blackburnnnnnn. idk about the big forehead and lazygiroud?

i cant even think positive about us now.

        help us GOD…

      • Blame Wenger its alot easier that way. im annoyed with him too but thats outta line. In Arsene I Trust

Thumb up 15 Thumb down 49

      • just one fact
        since the 2004/05 season
arsenal have brought in 49 thats right 49 new players!!!!
        .
        .
        .
        and sold 79

Thumb up 30 Thumb down 1

      • Wenger needs a proper boss. Someone who holds him to account and assesses and measures his performance. He seems to be the only person in the world who does not report to anyone.

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

    • A really inconsistent and pathetic performance yet again. What happened to the Arsenal I know and adore?

Thumb up 94 Thumb down 3

      • The worrying thing is it’s not inconsistent is it?! We’re consistently shite these days with the odd good performance.

I’ve said it for a while but it’s as if he has no control over his team any more. It’s as if they look at him as “that uncle that used to be cool once, you know him that tells stories of yesterday but now stinks of piss and drools a bit.”

Thumb up 111 Thumb down 8

      • I don't comment here often

It’s still there, just not playing as well as they used to. Simple.

Thumb up 14 Thumb down 45

      • We sold it.

Thumb up 32 Thumb down 3

      • The Arsenal you and I knew and adored has been dismantled and reassembled with faulty or sub-standard parts, by someone with little or no idea. The team – dare I say the club – is totally fucked. Only radical surgery is going to turn this round. Prepare for the stuffing of a lifetime next Wednesday.

Thumb up 12 Thumb down 32

    • Does our concerns get considered here?

Thumb up 25 Thumb down 3

    • @Des I have to agree that Arsenal are only in it for the money and not for trophies. Qualifying for Champions League (doubt this season) and finishing in top 4 of EPL is not satisfactory to me perhaps to Kroenke. Please address this issue from the top and Wenger stop being so damn stubborn.

Thumb up 28 Thumb down 1

  3. Arsenal have lost their last three cup ties and won just one of their last 17 league games with Mike Dean refereeing.

At the very least an interesting stat no?

Thumb up 55 Thumb down 54

    • No. And it’s not getting any more interesting for being repeated endlessly over and over at every chance possible.

Thumb up 52 Thumb down 18

    • We all know Dean is a proick but he was in no way responsible for our fucking dismal season. Arsene is, he’s the manager

Thumb up 138 Thumb down 10

    • Sorry I meant Prick, with a capital P

Thumb up 47 Thumb down 0

    • Let’s not protect the culprits any longer by blaming the Ref FFS. Interesting stat or not – Wenger justified his lack of action in the January window by saying he had a strong squad with two quality players in every position. There was more crap about not buying anything less than ‘super super quality’. He is also on record as saying (in defence of those who have already written our chances off against the Germans on Wednesday) “we’re going to surprise you all”. This I must see!

Thumb up 19 Thumb down 0

    • For once, Dean had fuck all to do with that result.

Thumb up 11 Thumb down 1

      • paid for by Fergie

Were you there? The ‘triple-substitution’ of Wilshere/Walcott/Cazorla was standing on the touchline at the 67th-minute. By the time Mike Dean allowed the substitution it was the 73rd-minute, and there were THREE clear stoppages of play when they should’ve been allowed on the pitch earlier. The Blackburn goal happened immediately after the belated substitution.

Just how much is Doctor Evil Fergie paying into Mike Dean’s Swiss bank account anyways?

Thumb up 18 Thumb down 2

      • I said pretty much what you’ve just stated on this blog the night we signed Moreno and got plenty of thumbs down. Too many ‘fans’ live in an unrealistic utopia, believing all will become good because we are Arsenal FC but you cannot escape the facts. And once again, yesterday was another example of the current squad simply not being good enough. And it’s a mentality thing which is a large part of the problem. However, had Wenger gone out and purchased another striker in Jan (just 1 example) we would have had the option of mixing it up yesterday instead of having to rely on a player who will never be good enough to wear the shirt and Giroud (who I like) having a pretty ineffective game). Ultimately, I agree with your point and can only hope we are proven wrong come May.

Thumb up 5 Thumb down 1

  6. Diaby being the replacement of Viera is just a wishful thinking. He doesn’t have the physical presence of Viera. He is not a hard tackler and fall down even under little pressure. Diaby is just an excuse for Wenger to not buy a defensive mid. Shuld have signed Sissoko.
    http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2013/02/12/3746419/newcastle-new-boy-sissoko-reveals-admiration-for-arsenal

    • Stop with the knee jerk. He had 2 decent games and now he is your hero, isn’t he? Did you even watch him in Ligue 1? My guess, no, you didn’t.
You are one of those, who wants Laudrup instead of AW cause he’s enjoying a decent spell now, forgetting, he was basically shit in La Liga. Last year, you were moaning about Rodgers or Lambert taking over Wenger and missing Huntelaar. You are just a flavour of the week type guy.

Thumb up 97 Thumb down 23

    • I think its hilarious that your talking about tough tackling midfielders and mention sissoko… When he actually plays in santis position with cabaye and tiote deeper.

      Just saying….

Thumb up 10 Thumb down 0

      • I also don’t understand why you’ve brought diaby into the defensive mid debate.. he is not the same player as viera, nothing alike except build. Mikel arteta is our defensive mid, yes diaby has played there before but only when our actual Lego haired man was injured.

  7. Dross. Complete and utter dross.

Thumb up 49 Thumb down 1

Thumb up 51 Thumb down 42

    • I agree. And why not keep the Ox on as well and move to a 4-4-2 with Giroud and Walcott both up front? We needed to keep every attacking outlet on the pitch.

  13. Home draw against a lower league side that is owned by a family of Indians that are good at selling chicken and have very little knowledge of football. Rested several keys players for the only cup we had a realistic chance of winning. Just depressing.

Thumb up 28 Thumb down 15

    • Year after year after year we sacrifice winnable cups for fourth place, and make that as difficult as possible. When we go put of all cup competitions in the weeks (sorry but Bayern will do us) then we have a terrible run in the league too and AW blames it on confidence! We’ve got sp*rs in a couple of weeks waiting for their holy grail, a win and they’ve more or less guaranteed finishing above us. That SHOULD be Wenger out.

  18. No arsene, I don’t think you’ve got a fuckin clue how we, the fans, feel. You get paid 7 million pounds a year to preside over this fuckin dross… We help pay your 7 million pounds so you can preside over this fuckin dross… Enough is enough…. Your constant bullshit is fucking numbing… You tell us that their are no players of “super quality” that will improve the squad… You are surely jesting, taking us fans for fuckin mugs… Are you seriously saying that there are no players in the whole fuckin world who are not better than gervinho…? If you truly believe that your either a liar or have lost the fuckin plot… In fact, it’s probably both… And the saddest thing of all is the great legacy you built is now being destroyed by your stubbornness, your inability to see the blatantly fuckin obvious and general bullshit that you talk about… You are becoming, if not already, a fuckin laughing stock…. And your dragging our, yes our, club the same way…. Have had enough… Fuck me, am I pissed off today….

Thumb up 120 Thumb down 16

    • Good rant.

“Ive prepared for these games the way I prepared for 16 years…” this is the definition of insanity right? times change so should a successful manager. Evolve or die… we seem to be doing the latter. Come on Arsenal!

Thumb up 65 Thumb down 2

      • do we even practice corners in training?

I didn’t count but it felt like we had two dozen corners vs. Blackburn’s none. Just wondering, but is “corner kick practice” even included in this ‘preparation’ of your Arsene?

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

    • Shame the old fool isn’t going to read your comment.

Even if he did, he’d probably regard you as a pleb with no mental strength.

Thumb up 18 Thumb down 3

    • I agree Arsenal needs improving, but you’ve got what Wenger said wrong – he’s saying there is no top quality player for a ‘reasonable’ price, ‘reasonable’ being not at what he considers an inflated price.

And after Andy Carroll, I tend to agree.

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 6

      • How much was Sissoko?
No top quality player for a reasonable price? My arse.

Thumb up 4 Thumb down 0

      • the market dictates what’s reasonable, not Arsene fucking Wenger. I don’t go out to buy a house and say – naah these London prices are crazy, I’ll probably just take the cardboard box and the alley to be honest

Thumb up 11 Thumb down 0

      • Mate, agree with you totally re Andy Carroll and the like…. Jesus, laughed my cock off when the mickys paid that much for him…. But surely there must be players out there better than gervinho and not at an inflated price…? And who says the price is inflated anyway…? Wenger… Back to his fuckin stubbornness again aren’t we…?! See previous post…! All I’m saying, with the resources we have, we must be able to find better players than we already have…. If they can’t find the players then they aren’t doing their fuckin jobs…. We are arsenal, we shouldn’t have to put up with second rate dross… Especially not with £200 million(?) in the bank….

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 1

  19. Stop defending wenger, he cannot motivate his players. And he is making wrong decisions all the fucking time. He is responsible for the team we got, and no one else. This is not good enough for arsenal.

He have done a great job for the club and he is an arsenal legend, but right now he is destroying his own reputation and destroying everything he has build.

Thumb up 72 Thumb down 9

  20. Please arsene go away

Thumb up 40 Thumb down 23

  21. At the moment the players don’t even seem to be motivated on the pitch, thats where you come in Arsene…….

Thumb up 30 Thumb down 3

  22. He is so arrogant it is unbelievable.Focus on the next game that is the same bullshit he says after every disgusting defeat. There is no excuse for a manager and a squad of players paid 134 mil a year to crumble twice in a season to lower league clubs it is indefensible and he would have been sacked a long time ago at any other club.We are the third biggest club in England and we are reduced to rubble by this french ego manaic and an indifferent yank who couldnt give a shit about the club as long as it makes him a pile of cash.

Thumb up 61 Thumb down 9

    • This “ego maniac” is also the reason why we are the “third biggest club in England”.

Thumb up 5 Thumb down 12

      • What an absolutely absurd post and indicative of the sheep that have been bred under Wenger.

Study the clubs history before 1996 and you will find we were already a massive club and have been for generations.

This is the legacy of a club that has flattered to deceive and with a manager who thinks he has done a Clough. Though both managers careers ARE mirroring each other for the latter part aside from the fact Wenger has a glass of red with dinner as opposed to a bottle of scotch for breakfast.

Not that you would know it…..

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 2

Actually, I think the total wage bill is GBP148million. Unfortunately, half of that goes to deadwood who can’t be entrusted with even a minute of Premier League football.

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

  23. Come on for most of that match we were the dominant force, some superb saves from keane the blackburn goalie and a mistake by Szcesney lost us the game. For highlighting players who could have performed better there is no point because you could pick from any on the pitch, even so we were in control and it was a smash and grab job from blackburn. As for blaming mike dean that is unfair sian massey made an offside decision and this time she got it wrong she doesn’t make many. Secondly you don’t look to ref to do you favours anyway. let us support team until end of season and then look forward to next season starting

Thumb up 53 Thumb down 36

    • sanity at last

Thumb up 25 Thumb down 7

    • Aha the old “judge us at the end of the season” line. Funny how at the end of the season that becomes “judge us at the end of the transfer window” which then leads to yet another season of all tease and no fanny.

Thumb up 25 Thumb down 6

    • We seem to be especially vulnerable to “smash and grab” teams which means that we are tactically inept. We dont have the mentality or the will to do the hard work required to get results, we cant defend set pieces, we cant score on set pieces, wer are a joke when it comes to defending (clean sheats against Sunderland and the Orcs dont mean shit, they are shite).
I will always support the Arsenal but I have already judged both the team and Wenger and I have found both lacking, big time.
If Wenger is still here at the beginning of next season I wont “look forward” to it.

Thumb up 10 Thumb down 5

      • I like it how you decry us as being vulnerable to smash-and-grab types and then selectively try to ignore the performance against Stoke and Sunderland because they don’t fit your accusations.

Thumb up 4 Thumb down 4

      • Sunderland almost got us. They were better than us in the second half and should have scored. We were lucky then. Why i ignore those games is because People tend to bring them up to show how good we are at defending

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 4

    • Thank fuck i’m not the only one Richard. Thumbs up.

It didn’t happen for us tonight, the mysterious ingredient that makes us sometimes brilliant was missing, but there’s still plenty left to do in the league, and pride to be upheld in Europe. I was feeling so positive about our team but 24 hours ago, so I’m trying not to let this fuck-up get me too depressed; even though our major chance of silverware has gone out of the window I still think we have a good squad, and I stand by that. Now I’m going to be at the Emirates on Tuesday, singing my fucking heart out as we stuff the Germans to the theme of Hey Jude. Feel free to join me.

Thumb up 12 Thumb down 5

      • It didn’t happen for us because we (in my opinion) lacked the hunger, desire and motivation to make it happen. It was a listless display and too often this happens. If you cannot motivate yourself and, from a manager’s point of view, motivate your players to work as hard as the opposition do to ensure you break them down there has to be serious underlying issues. This happens far too often to put it down to bad luck, Blackburn would have been content coming away with a narrow defeat yet we coasted until it was too late and we were 1-0 down. It’s not good enough and unfortunately, this is becoming a regular occurrence.

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

  25. Arsenal football club you are a disgrace from top to bottom, you are so mentally weak you are an embarresment. This is the weakest bunch of jokers ever to wear the red of Arsenal, Please Wenger fuck off and take your grand plan with you.

Thumb up 40 Thumb down 29

  26. I couldn’t even be arsed to get angry earlier, so shit were we.

Now I’m fuckin livid that it’s got to the stage with my team where I can’t be arsed to get angry.

    Where’s that fuckin cat?

Thumb up 45 Thumb down 2

  27. I understand the frustration with Wenger and his policies etc. etc. but at the end of the day he fielded a team full of international players with a great deal of experience. They should have been good enough to do the job. Yes these players aren’t good enough for arsenal but they still should have been able to beat Blackburn very very comfortably. I don’t doubt the commitment of these players to the club but I do think Arsenal make them far too comfortable and that’s why there has been an increase in complacency.

Furthermore, we need to put this team in perspective. This is by far our weakest squad and the fact that we are even challenging for a top-4 spot is surprising. We, as fans, need to stop expecting to win the title because the fact is as a club we are not in that position anymore. The club have taken a different route to most and it hasn’t worked out on the field. I’m hoping they will analyse the past 10 years and learn from their mistakes. Rant over

No one expects us to win the League, but we (or at least I ) do expect is for the team to put in 100% effort every time they step on to the pitch and on numerous occasions that has not been the case.

  28. Arsenal can no longer compete. If we do, we do it in patches like gervinho’s play. But wait, gerv is just shit consistently. Wrong comparison, sorry.

Thumb up 18 Thumb down 4

  29. ” I prepared these two in the same way that I did in the 16 years before.”

I always wondered how teams figured out how to play against us

Thumb up 43 Thumb down 2

  30. Thank you Wenger for getting me this thumping headache all in the name of supporting this dross……fuck off as well.

Thumb up 24 Thumb down 7

  31. Oh fuck off you old cunt. How many times this year has he said the same shit and nothing has changed? He went on in January about being busy strengthening the team but only because we got an injury to Gibbs he turned around and signed someone WITHIN 24 HOURS. He is pissing on our leg and telling us its raining. Times up you cunt!

Thumb up 37 Thumb down 19

  32. Arsene Wenger has only 1 objective left and thats top 4 and I wouldnt want to be him if he fails.

I look at the positives atleast we have less games now to focus on the premier league.

I will be patient he will have a lot of money next season with tv rights and sponsorship deals if he doesnt pull things around and spend money on good players he has to go.

Thumb up 19 Thumb down 6

    • Why wouldn’t you want to be him if he fails…? What will happen….? Fuck all that’s what…. He interviewed his “boss” for his job for fucks sake….! Too much fuckin power and answerable to no one except the yank, who doesn’t give a fuck as long as the coin is rolling in….

Thumb up 28 Thumb down 1

      • Well let me say this AW has been criticised more this season than I have ever seen and the fans will lose patience eventually it wont go on forever thats for sure.

Thumb up 14 Thumb down 2

    • How many second chances are you prepared to give this fuckin clown FFS?

Thumb up 4 Thumb down 2

Thumb up 4 Thumb down 7

    • furious arsenal fans

Don’t mix up Arsene and Arsenal you idiot!

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

    • C’mon mate, lay off Blogs. This is the only Arsenal blog for me. Just go read the ‘Terms and Conditions’… this is the only website in the world where you can laugh your arse off reading the Terms and Condistions.

We all have our opinion about Wenger, there is no one right answer. He is a legend who has been put under tremendous financial constraints ever since that asset-stripping Kroenke became owner, but still he should be doing better than this… but then who the fuck else manager would both a) be willing to come, and b) able to do better than Wenger?

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 1

  34. @truth shut the fuck up you idiot!

Thumb up 28 Thumb down 7

  35. If you think things are bad now, just wait until Tuesday.

Thumb up 29 Thumb down 2

    • Not really losing to clubs like bayern should be normal by now. Even before we lost to Blackburn. In fact I had no hope we were going to progress deep in the champions league from the start of the season or the upcoming seasons.

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 0

  36. Wenger may have prepared the same team for the last 16 years as he has said but the rest of us know they are nowhere near the same teams.

Thumb up 23 Thumb down 1

  37. I keep checking newsnow to see if Wenger has resigned or been sacked. I also check to see if my lottery numbers have come up. Guess what , none of them are happening but with odds of 14 million to 1, the lottery will happen before that fucking imbecile is out the door.

Thumb up 28 Thumb down 11

    • Made me smile that has crispy…. First time since five to three this afternoon….!

Thumb up 10 Thumb down 6

    • Our FA cup exit at the hands of a lower division side (as before) could be a blessing in disguise. We have no chance in the Champs League, nor getting Wenger’s other idea of a ‘trophy’ – 4th place in the Prem. Even that bunch of out-of-touch bufoons that call themselves Directors will have to wake the fuck up now.

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 2

    • Really? Imbecile? Wenger deserves better than that. If you must criticize, do it with some rationality. Show some respect. Ultimately, players on the pitch had to perform and they didn’t. Wenger will be held responsible for the shortcoming at some point, but calling him an imbecile is plain stupid.

Thumb up 6 Thumb down 6

  38. After we thrash Bayern on Tuesday you’ll all change your tunes.

Thumb up 11 Thumb down 17

  39. Losing to Bradford was shit
    Losing to Blackburn was shitter
Things can only get better then….
Well if we do get embarrassed by Bayern then shittest comes to mind and that’s a clear sign Wengers taking us backwards

Thumb up 21 Thumb down 2

  40. Ladies and gentlemen, we are doomed. Bring in mourinho to be our saviour (or anyone who will ditch The Forehead)

Thumb up 16 Thumb down 16

    • Mour loves a challenge, but he wouldn’t take this shambles on – especially to be stuck stuck with those senile old Etonians and maybe even Wonga as ‘Director of Football’.

      Perish the fuckin thought

Thumb up 4 Thumb down 1

  41. It used to be that everything I said was classy and respected now I’m just a broken record spouting the same excuses and hiding behind past achievements its a shame that what will be remembered is the trophy drought and stubbornness not what went before

Thumb up 22 Thumb down 1

  42. Seriously though, WTF are these guys being paid for?
Do they even realise who they’re playin for?
When is it enough?! No spirit, no will, no guts, no pride no nothing! Stick me in there instead of Gervinho. For real !!
Wenger makes more then 7.000.000 GBP !!
    FOR WHAT??
    What a misery… what a mo’fucking misery.

Thumb up 27 Thumb down 2

  43. Just one question.. What happened with the Verminator?Recently he doesn’t act like a captain, and he does a lot of mistakes, like today he could save us from the goal.

Thumb up 16 Thumb down 3

  44. You know what kills me. There is no consequences for him loosing this game. He pays lip service to the fans. “It wasn’t good enough but we’re now looking forward to the next one” if he was the head if any other industry or team he would be long gone. If I took over and kept losing could I still get away with saying: “it was disappointing but we’re now looking forward to our next game”. How many times do we have to see the headline ‘wringer looking for a response’ on Sky sports news? He is killing our once great club.

Thumb up 23 Thumb down 1

  45. Cant wait for this season to bite the dust….The moment the word “Record:” and Arsenal get used in the same sentence I fear the worse. Wenger has managed some brilliant records with arsenal but he seems to be undoing every one of them nowadays.
He had a brilliant track record at finding talent as well but now look at what we have. We were quck to get on Arshavin’s back but Gervinho is worse. Its not that he missed the one on one but he missed the fucking goal as well!

Thumb up 23 Thumb down 0

  46. Cunts! When will all these shit fucks go away.

Does Wenger watch his boys play?

He doesn’t have any fucking plan B and his changes are hard to believe.

Thumb up 17 Thumb down 0

  47. Shockin pile of shit today. I just hope we have some kind of bounce back on tursday. Stranger things have happened.

Thumb up 13 Thumb down 34

  51. And all the AKB’s and Wengerites shout Booooooooooooo!!!
They keep asking that if Wenger leaves who will replace him? Well does that mean that if he died today, that will be the end of AFC? Just a thought use it or don’t use it!!!

Thumb up 23 Thumb down 7

    • lol what? If he died it wouldn’t be “the end” of the club, but it could still be a major blow to the organization. The same issue still arises; who would replace him?

Thumb up 13 Thumb down 4

      • change “could” to “would”
        my mistake

Thumb up 4 Thumb down 4

      • David Moyes, Jurgen Klopp, Frank De Boer, Michael Laudrup, Joachim Löw and probably a lot of others that I dont even know exists.
I truly believe that all of the ones I have named here, with the resources available at Arsenal, would do a much better job than Wenger.

Thumb up 7 Thumb down 3

      • The perfect replacement for him http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUc62jD-G0o

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 0

      • Joachim Low? I would rather not have that booger-eating creep managing Arsenal. But yeah, fucking time for change. I’m barely hurt by this defeat due to the heavy desensitization by constant fucking disappointments by this disturbingly sub-par Arsenal team. I find it difficult imagining someone other than Wenger by the bench; just as difficult is imagining Arsenal football club lifting a real trophy. .. and those two really go hand in hand.

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 1

      • any fucker with more than three brain cells would do

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 3

  52. At least we have Gervinho back!

Diaby played like the frustrating Diaby of years past where he just holds on to the ball far too long or thinks he has more time than he really does.

Giroud and Ox were poor again today as well.

Too many passengers on board at the moment!

    Can’t wait till next Tuesday!

Thumb up 13 Thumb down 0

  53. While watching the match I was getting increasingly frustrated with Giroud, He strutted around the pitch like a damn peacock and then whenever anyone layed the ball off to him near the box he would try and do a clever flick and then lose the ball. I find it ridiculous that he is our one and ONLY striker.

I know there is a lot of criticism directed at Gervinho but I’ve gone past the stage of anger and now I cant help but feel sorry for him. It’s not his fault that Wenger bought him.

And as for Wenger……..why wait till the 70th minute to make a change? He always does this. As a player who starts a match they probably feel safe in the knowledge that regardless of how crap they play, they have at least 70 min game time. Also why take off Rosicky who actually looked like he wanted to make something happen and leave Diaby on?

I’m in two minds on whether or not I want to watch the match on Tues. I don’t think I could bear to see that smug face of Chiles when we lose.

Thumb up 15 Thumb down 1

  54. LOL at peopel claiming Gervinho was going to score a hat trick after his performances for Ivory Coast

We should have signed a world cllass striker over January

Thumb up 6 Thumb down 2

  55. Some of the players that AW played today failed him.
But should he have played them in the first place? Gervinhoo had 2 excellent chance to score but failed terribly. Giroud a couple more. Next is AW substiruions which can be wuestioned like takin oit Rosicky instead of Diaby who was not playi.g well.
So In disappointed that the players concerned didnt do enough for the manager that has trust in them.

Thumb up 4 Thumb down 1

  56. This could be reactionary, but today is more proof that football as morality play doesn’t work. Arsene has lamented and decried financial doping combined with a desperately delusional faith FFP will realign the current system. Concordant with Wenger’s/the club’s new pathology, he’s proudly praised himself/the club for sticking to his/its pecuniary, frugal principles. This is the new normal.

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 1

    • Win or play fair, that’s our choice. Oh no, sorry, its not our choice at all, the board and our manager have made the decision for us. Thanks PHW for putting your nostalgia for some 1960s football ownership utopia ahead of the club, and thank you Kroenke for cashing in on this naivety to make sweet bank.

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 1

  57. After reading some initial reports I thought this had been another drab Arsenal performance with Blackburn suckerpunching us with ruthless efficiency. Instead, after watching the highlights I must admit, it just seems that it wasn’t our day. We had a few chances and although not many came from sitting outside Blackburn’s area we still had enough to win a match, Rosicky’s crossbar hit being especially frustrating. And Blackburn’s goal had more than a hint of fortune, something Arsenal lacked all match. Sure we’ve had some mind-numbing performances this season, but this was no Bradford and remember that it was almost our second string too.

Thumb up 7 Thumb down 5

    • This is what makes the game the biggest tragedy of it all. Its one thing if we played as we did at Bradford, but to play as we did and still not get the result is hard to stomach. Especially when there were several times when we really should have just sealed the deal.

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

    • “we had a few chances… crossbar hit being especially frustrating” extremely impressive against second tier opposition I must say, maybe next time we’ll have a bit more luck and secure the replay

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  58. I think AW should leave. It is greatful what he did in the past, but in recent years this club is going worse every season. This time, Blackburn… I can’t fucking understant how u can lose to those bastards, who can’t even compete in BPL. With this team Arsene must win. It’s not Chelsea or Manchester United. It’s Blackburn. Even if Arsenal board is shit. That wasn’t a big match. This was an opportunity to win a trophy for us. How many years fans waiting for that.

Thumb up 12 Thumb down 0

  59. Another very VERY poor performance by a lacklustre Arsenal team.

Should have started with the strongest formation then subbed when 2 or more up.

But the question is….WHEN should Wenger stop being defended and say enough is enough?

Thumb up 7 Thumb down 2

  60. WHY THE FUCK DIDN’T I PLAY AND SOME AFRICAN FOREHEAD GOT TO?

Thumb up 10 Thumb down 4

  61. bbc was reporting that the arsenal dressing room was still closed for about half an hour after the match and am sure a dressdown was going on in there …why cant arsene just come out for once and say as it is…like….”that was, frankly, bollocks”

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 2

  62. The only time Arsenal play with any type of urgency is when they are down. It’s almost as though Arsene has no control over his players. They just go through the motions…lacking pace and passion! Underperforming in ALL areas.

Thumb up 6 Thumb down 0

  63. Here come the dark February again! we will be out of all competition as usual and the focus becomes 3rd or 4th finish…so familiar. Sadly it wouldn’t change until Wenger & the board change thier strategy.

  64. they save energy for bayeen munich

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 4

  65. it sucks losing to lower league teams.
it also sucks when we have a massive European night ahead this week and we only have the resources for one good first team instead of two or three like the oil country backed clubs do. and have to gamble on our second string internationals to win these types of games.

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 0

  66. Arsenal: Hello Liverpool, I haven’t seen you in a while.

Liverpool: Oh, hey Arsenal what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be with the cool kids?

Arsenal: No, I’ve been replaced by Tottenham.

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 2

  69. We must have the worst fans in the league. What a self-important group of front-running pricks. I would rather that our attendances fell back to 20,000 than have the stadium filled by these people. Reading the comments on here, is is frankly embarrassing that these are the type of supporters that are associated with the club.

Thumb up 9 Thumb down 14

    • The highest price of tickets in the UK. Selling best players every fucking window. Losing to Blackburn and Bradford with ‘strong’ squads but it’s only tip of an iceberg because this season gives us constantly disappointing performances, nevermind the results. So…
      Thank you and come again.

Thumb up 7 Thumb down 3

      • Then stop going. I can guarantee you that you will not be missed at all, and the atmosphere at the matches will only improve through your absence.

Thumb up 8 Thumb down 4

      • When you look at the bench though and the starting line up, that was essentially the weakest squad Wenger could have played, right? I’ll admit though Bradford was a ‘strong’ squad.

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

    • I do agree with you in one aspect. The only time i heard the fans today was when they all started booing at the end.

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

    • So you are happy with this fucking shambles then?

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 3

    • DoubleDoubleDouble

One of the by products of the early years under Wenger is that we got saddled with a bunch of glory hunting cunts.

We are so far away from the dreadful dross that I had to suffer when I first started supporting the club that I can take this level of Arsenal being shit.

Now when we look forward to European football, we’re waiting for a match against Bayern Munich and not to getting beat by the likes of Winter Slag.

So, Mark, I totally agree with what you say and if we both get thumbed down to oblivion, then fuck them.

Thumb up 7 Thumb down 3

      • By far the best comment on here so far, seems to me us 35 year old and above fans who remember the pre-Wenger era have a very different view compaired to these jonny come lately glory hunting Wenger era tossers!!!

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

    • Lot of people venting their spleen here but I don’t remember seeing them on here congratulating Wenger and the team when we perform well. It’s almost as if they have some kind of agenda. Like they’re only happy to say something when we lose. Fair weather fans?

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

  70. Why the f*** was Rosicky taken off? And when is anyone going to take responsibility for the shambles at this club? If Wenger had a shred of honour he would quit now. The buck has to stop with the Frenchman. WENGER OUT!

Thumb up 5 Thumb down 3

  71. Wenger doesn’t understand how fans feel when they are paying him world class manager wages which he feels he deserves yet he wouldn’t do the same for players. Wenger is getting too old. His philosophy and tactics(if there’s any) are outdated. He has lost connectiowith modern football. 9years of success, 8years of misery. Does he really want his failure to outweigh his success?
Leave whiles u an Wenger or start to re innovate yourself otherwise you will be hero to zero.

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 3

  72. I fully understand those that say we have had little money to spend since and because of the new stadium.
But we were told this year we had significant funds available including the January window and yet only bought because of injury on the last day. And il even accept that quality is hard to buy in that window although others seem to do it.
But come the summer when we are supposedly coming into a few quid with new deals coming online and a large increase in tv money what if we then still don’t buy the players this squad clearly needs. I have no confidence with what’s been said by those that run the club regarding funds being available that they we will actually address the problems we have by buying new quality proven talent. As I said we were told the same this year about funds yet still had to sell two players to fund the incomings.
If some fans will then accept finishing in the top four is adequate then fine that’s your call and it should be respected but so should those of us that are of the opinion that we should be putting in a realistic challenge for major honours bearing in Mind the prices we are asked to pay and the fact the ceo at the club repeatedly tells us significant funds are there for the manger to spend.

Thumb up 5 Thumb down 1

  73. I’m still in pain. And baffled how a team as bad as Blackburn ended up winning that game. Blunt performance. Giroud gervinho and the ox were frankly awful. Also not been mentioned much real amateur goalkeeping from schezceny on the goal. Oh well only bayern next

Thumb up 5 Thumb down 0

    • After Woj’s heroics last week, his parry today was kind of awful, but I can’t tell from the replays if that was his only option at the moment.

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  74. Nice to see many of u finally are seeing the woods through the trees, every dog has there day its time for wenger to step down its frankly becoming a joke, we are a laughing stock right now.I did predict all this, enough enough, pls wenger do this for the sake of arsenal football club go now!

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 7

  75. @ Jason. Totally agree. The atmosphere was terrible today even by our standards. Not helped buy what could only have been a 1000 rovers fans at the most. But having said that there was little to get excited about to be fair. It only picked up after they scored and even then it was shouting and screaming with frustration rather than singing.
And the boos at the was the worst I’ve heard at the grove. I fear for the bayern game partly because bayern are world class and we are not but mainly due to the players frame of Mind after such a defeat and reaction from the fans.

Thumb up 5 Thumb down 0

    • Yeah but look at Liverpool their 9th LMAO.. fans still show good support game after game.

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 2

      • Yup and that’s why they can’t seem to see there’s a problem at their club. More importantly they don’t price their most loyal middle class fans out of the game leaving wealthy silent Stan fans to feed the club.

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

  76. Oh fuck off wenger!

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 4

  77. We, the arsenal fans r the most teased fans now a days.. no wonder they call the trophy cabinet a library nd a philosopher is the head librerian.. 8 years widout any new book into dat librery nd many more years to follow.. shittt..i jst cnt digest it..

    • DoubleDoubleDouble

If you can take stick from your play school buddies, then it’s time for your mummy to go down there and have a word with the teacher.

Mark my words, that’ll sort those bullies out and they’ll never tease you again.

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 1

  78. Don’t let anyone try to convince you that today’s result was some kind of accident or aberration. What has happened today and the rubbish that we have had to witness this season was entirely predictable. This is what happens when you set up your club to have no ambition.

We have an owner, chief executive and manager who all are unfit to hold their positions at our great club.

Arsene Wenger should have gone years ago. Any fool can see that he is well past it. Why, today, did he play a weakened side in the only competition that we are capable of winning this season? He’s bonkers. And where was the fucking impact striker that should have come on to get us the goal that we needed? I know, we didn’t fucking buy one either last summer or in January.

But don’t worry, Wenger will be safe – even if we don’t finish in the top four. The man at the very top in America likes the Frenchman because he makes him money. Who cares if we’ve gone for eight years without a trophy.

We are so fucked right now.

Thumb up 10 Thumb down 2

  79. Once again our Socialism in one club model produces mediocrity all round and we lose a winnable game. This is so boring and predictable. When the fuck will it end? When will our Wall come tumbling down? Reckon pink floyd should play the emirates if this regime ever changes and we get some hope…

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 1

  80. 11 international players started against Blackburn yesterday, that should have been enough. Who would suggest it shouldn’t have been? But there was no leadership on the pitch and no one took responsibility (again), other than Rosicky. The players need to be culpable too. Players of this caliber need to have a little pride and play to their level. They were completely blunt up front. How many times did we hit the target, even when our three talented reinforcements came on? We barely threatened then too.

Now many of you will say we should have brought a striker in January, I agree, we’re very lacking in options up front and that was painfully evident yesterday, however, what we have should be more than enough to dispatch Blackburn. Who doesn’t agree with that?

Ya, Wenger made some mistakes, he could have subbed earlier, I would have left Rosicky on and taken off Diaby. Rosicky was the only one looking threatening and making things happen. He could have put Podolski on who is an great impact player. He did make mistakes, and yes the team isn’t balanced, but come one people, he wasn’t the one playing football. I’m tired of people only blaming the manager. These players are consistently under-performing. They should hang their heads in shame. Yes, some of them aren’t good enough to be Arsenal players, but they ARE good enough to beat Blackburn.

The last time Blackburn came to the Emirates they lost 7-1. This is no premiership topping team. Whatever about the other problems we have or the problems with Wenger, at the end of the day we lost yesterday because our players played like shit… again. Maybe it’s the W’s fault, maybe it was the tactics, maybe it was the substitutions but enough of the maybes, the only thing we can be 110% certain of is that it WAS the players.

Hang your head in shame boys cause right now most of you are an embarrassment.

As for us fans, we seem to have an endless regenerative ability to hope. So let’s hope they’ll be shammed into winning on Tuesday.

Thumb up 15 Thumb down 2

  81. Just to say that I am a late supporter of the arsenal. I was fond of them before but only started supporting them religiously until after the fa cup win in 05 (basically I’ve never seen them lift a trophy with my own eyes, except travelling to London a couple of times for the emirates cups). With each year that passes now I’m starting to wonder whether I am the curse to arsenals decline? Watching that champs league final ended in tears for me and I think it has got me well adjusted to accept being upset.

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

    • Also being an arsenal fan from Scotland in my area I get laughed at and awkward looks why I love arsenal so much. I would always remind them about our amazing players and style of football. Frankly those reasons seems a bit false now.

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

  82. Arsenal has become a corporate business run by accountants from top to bottom. Winning Trophies and the loyalty of the fans means nothing to them it’s only the dollar that counts. They keep telling us that when FFP comes in we will be in the best position because of their business model. Sorry guys PSV owners have blown any chance of FFP ever working right out the window. Now what’s your plan B. get your heads out of your pompus arses an give us our FOOTBALL (in capitals just in case you have forgotten what we are supposed to be about) CLUB back !

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 1

  83. PSG. Sorry

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  84. Wenger is a genius. He knows we are in the top four scrap and an extended cup run will only break our legs. Plus even winning FA cup or CoC (Both of which aren’t rated highly by the boss) will ensure we have to play europa next year (In case we miss the Champions League places). He wouldn’t want that because that places even more burden on the team (Not to mention visit to far away places in Europe). So maybe he messed up his tactics and got his team out before sentiment came into picture (i.e. QF or SF rounds).
Mark my words Bayern will find a very different team on Wednesday because Wiining the CL is still a priority with Arsene.
P.S. – I get the feeling that if we begin bottling the fourth place, Arsene will let go of the 5th as well and settle for 6th just to avoid Europa

  85. Ive confident the team that will be put out against Bayern on tues will do a much better job then this game coz there wont be Zgervinho, Diaby, Ox , Coquelin in the line up. Just wish AW had. played the stronger team vs Blackburn

  86. I was on the north bank today and the worrying thing is actually how divided the fans are – to the point of starting fights with each other. I saw 3 near fights start. It wasn’t nice. Pro and anti Wenger – it’s like a Gooner civil war. As a season ticket holder it’s a real shame to see that around you. We need unity and progression.

Thumb up 8 Thumb down 0

    • It’s not nice to see the fans falling out but then it seems we have one set of fans who support Arsene and not Arsenal. They follow him blindly and seem to have little or no regard for the club itself.

I understand the extended faith some fans have had for Arsene but surely there’s a time when they need to wake up and smell the coffee.

Gervinioh and diaby were wasting all kind of chances. Honestly, Gervinioh should have missed the flight from African cup of nation. He was every single bit waste as shit in a cup, y is there shit in a cup? I don’t know.. Its pointless!! Im surprised even at this age arsene haven’t had a heart attack yet.

    • I’ve just read this quote…

“The players who played today didn’t play eight seasons ago and we must focus on the next game.”

You’re damned right they didn’t Arsene, those that played 8 seasons ago wouldn’t have lost to Bradford and then Blackburn.

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 1

  89. I support Arsenal, it’s Wenger I don’t support. I do not read or listen to anything he has to say anymore for one simple reason. He insults my intelligence. He is arrogant and stubborn and destroying the legacy he built while pulling down the highest salary in England. Where would this squad be under a man like Fergie? All you in Arsene we trust advocates keep trusting him and watch our club go the way of Liverpool.

  90. Sick to the stomach of the same excuses week after week why didn’t wenger play the strongest team get into a winning position in the match then make changes by bringing of the bigger players!wenger has to go enough is enough!

It’s the bit between the players ears, should have been more clinical. Walcott again napping, gambling for there goal allowed Olson to sprint into the box to take the shot. No plan b but Blackburn played the classic sucka punch game. I could see loads of arsenal players trying but not as a team

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 1

  94. This is a disappointment, naturally. But it’s the FA Cup. I don’t give a fuck about it neither do you. I enjoy the football. Just, for fucks sake, win, will ya Arsenal? Simples.

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 2

  95. I like many gooners have stuck by Wenger through thick and thin but enough is now enough i mean what he’s sees in bloody Gervino god only knows!
its either time to spend some proper cash or leave now Arsene before you undo all the good you brought to our club. We cant be a laughing stock anymore

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 1

  96. he should have started our best 11 yesterday then took some off when or if the game was safe . as it turned out he had to bring them on anyway . dont know whats the obsession is with trying to ” rest ” players in supposedly easy games .to be honest , the fa cup was our only chance of silverware , so he ought to have cast his mind back over the last 8 years and looked at the amount of times this kind of policy has cost us dear . we lose on a regular basis to shit teams , so play the best 11 at your disposal at ALL times

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

  97. I don’t know if i want Wenger out or not, i’m just so bloody tired of the same old excuses, “we will only buy if we can find someone who will improve the quality of our squad” i mean come on Arsene ffs, has he got so little respect for the fans that he thinks he can trot that line out every single transfer window?
What if he left, Moyes? Who else is there?
We know we’ve got money cause we had to stomach that smug twat Gazidis telling us about the brilliant deals he done to bring in the millions, so why won’t Arsene spend it?
We all know Arsene will never be sacked, will he resign if we finish outside the top four, never, he seems to be pinning all his hopes on ffp, but the money men at Chelsea, city and united aren’t fucking stupid, they know it’s coming and they’ll be ready for it.
For me the problem is motivation, the players at Arsenal are in a nice comfotable little bubble, can you imagine for one minute a team managed by Mourinho, Fergie or even Moyes putting in such a fucking abject performance as we wittnessed yesterday? It just wouldn’t happen!!!

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 0

    • *comfortable

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

    • I can imagine that, and we’ve seen it. Think United in the Champions League last season or Real in La Liga this season. But what’s different is that those sort of performances aren’t a regular occurrence. Madrid are performing abjectly because Mourinho’s had one of his fallings out and doesn’t care anymore. Fergie roast United and now they’re sitting comfortably top of the league. We perform like that every few months like clockwork.

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  98. I think I need to qualify this first by saying I’m not part of the Wenger-out brigade. There are very few managers of the quality Arsene has and recruiting any of the suggested candidates has inherent risks. For example: Laudrup has Swansea performing well this season but will it happen again next year and could he meet the expectations of Arsenal? Klopp’s done a great job at Dortmund, but funnily enough as they’ve slowly had their best players sold off (Kagawa, Sahin before that) they’ve slipped back down the Bundesliga, what’s there to say he didn’t just have a great team readymade to win and as the integral parts go missing he can’t replace them, sound familiar?

I think Arsene plays a vital role at this football club, and his ability at spotting and developing talent is second to none. Unfortunately he seems to have become a bit jaded tactically, not really pushing things forwards and progressing from his system. Therefore what I’d possibly like to see is Wenger moved upstairs into a director of football role. There he’d be able to spend more time identifying and scouting players which is one of his strengths, while we’d have some fresh ideas on the field from a new manager. J

  99. Too Drunk To Be Offside

For all the fking excuses, about how we cannot compete with the big spending clubs, the truth is we are not even going out to the big spending teams. I mean we went out to Bradford, Blackburn, last season we went out to Sunderland, these are teams that are no where near the gunners when it comes to spending. I fully support that idea that the funds should not be spend on mediocre players, but that ppl believe there is nobody in the world who could strengthen this team I laughable. Giroud as a second striker would be fine, but he is definitely not the ONLY striker a team should have. Gunners need a world class striker and Giroud behind him would do wonders. Like Wiltord behind Henry. Wiltord was a 15 goal a season striker but useful only because he supplemented the goals Henry got. Had we only been reliant on Wiltord the team would have struggled. Walcott has scored goals, but having said that, he does go missing every now and then. Also we did not create any opportunities what so ever, barring the one that forehead missed, I do not remember any chances being created. Yes there were snap shots and that one shot that hit the bar but those were not “created” chances, if you know what I mean. The sad thing is its been the same story for too long now. Tonnes of possession move the ball around aimlessly, then get caught on the counter don’t know how to defend. I mean sure one season would be understandable. I mean the gunners have played like way too often for way too long to be excused. Its gone on for eternity and things just don’t seem to be improving. Heads have to roll.

  104. David O'Leary's Dad

The root problem IMO is that Arsenal are coasting and there is no pressure inside the club to ruthlessly deal with anything less than 100% commitment. Compare this with a quote from an article about Bayern Munich and how they deal with things:

“Hoeness’s first victim was the sporting director, Christian Nerlinger. The former midfielder had annoyed the president in March 2012 when he had conceded the title to Dortmund after a defeat against Leverkusen that left Bayern seven points behind the leaders. “When a sporting director says that the title is lost when nothing has been decided then I am of the opinion that someone in the club must say: ‘No, no, that is actually not the case’,” Hoeness told die Abendzeitung in October. “It gives the wrong signal to the team, when the club lies on its back and puts its four legs up in the air.

“This is not a problem I have with Nerlinger’s replacement, Matthias Sammer,” Hoeness said. “He will fight until the bitter end. It has been proved that for this position we need a man who has a strong charisma and projects strength to the outside world. Matthias has that. Christian Nerlinger, on the other hand, couldn’t deliver that.”

When asked whether Nerlinger would have kept his job had Bayern won the Champions League, Hoeness answered coldly: “Yes, until 1 January. Then he would have had to go, regardless. I had made up my mind.” ”

Compare and contrast with the tripe that Arsenal put up with season after season.

    God help us on tuesday.

  105. He can fuck off now. If any of us singularly failed in our jobs as much as he has for the last 8 years, we’d be fired. Until something changes, and by that I mean Wenger fucks off, nothing will get better. We will circle the drain before becoming a laughing stock like Liverpool! You can neg this comment all you want, but I want the best for Arsenal, and I have no misguided loyalty to Wenger who is a LONG way from the man who took a team unbeaten. football has changed, he hasn’t and is now an anchronism!

  108. we have the handbrake on performances like yesterday or the too nervous starts in big games, like man c iteh home.
there’s a malaise in the squad and has been for years, bayern game is the priority for wenger and perhaps this has been reflected in training all week, therefore, you have some “senior” squad players who are picked to start in the fa cup, know they are not going to start on tuesday, and play as if why bust a gut,i aint gonna play in the big game (eg diaby).i am a fa cup/carling player.then
there are a number of undroppables who are not challenged for their places and on it goes…

the keeper was poor at the one thing ,he had to do and yet again.the utterly overrrated TV was involved in another cock up at the back…

if we have the nervous start tuesday, (again)then its clear wenger sadly is devoid of ideas in how to motivate the team…

  109. Here is my take on it ……
Forget the match and look at the bigger picture it has taken us unti this season with the turning been walcott after we renegotiated his deal to stop selling our better players.
If we get to this summer in fourth place and get rid of the denilsons bentdners and chamacks of this squad and for the first time in 10 years actualy strengthen with 3 new signings in place of those going out then we are actualy heading in the right direction and building the stadiums and 8 years without a trophy will all have been worthwhile.

The squad just isnt good enough and it looks like this summer we can start to putt that right …infairness its not strong enough for a premiership match as the bench should be as good as the first 11 we dont have that never mind enough quality to rotate the first 11 for other games.

I dont see why anyone should cast judgement before the summer transfer window closes that way will know if finaly we are turning the corner or the fuckers just want to put it all in the bank and treat us like mugs ..
Im hoping it the former and can understand why arent competing at the moment BUT top 4 and 3 plonkers out and 3 good players in this summer would be to me anyways the start of the comeback towards former glory days

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 3

    • What signing is going to let us beat Bradford or Blackburn? Messi? Barton ? Our squad is more than enough to beat these wee clubs yet season after season we lose to them. its not a transfer problem that we can’t win the mickey mouse cups.

  111. Here’s my take on all this shit.
I’m starting to feel quite philosophical about it all now: rather like a man on his deathbed.
Although of course, I’d rather we win, with this management, this is not a reality. So if we win a match: good, we win.
If we lose a match: …we win, in the long term – because it’s a step close to lost-it Wenger, Gazidis, $ilent $tan and the rest of the incompetent, greedy board all fucking off.
