Pérez: no Arsenal offer for Higuain

Pérez: no Arsenal offer for Higuain

Just as you thought this transfer window couldn’t get any more testing, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez says there’s been no offer from Arsenal for striker Gonzalo Higuain.

The Argentine has been linked with the Gunners for what seems like infinity plus one now, and reports of agreement between club and player have been doing the rounds for weeks.

There is, however, the small matter of the clubs agreeing and it seems that’s still some way off. In an interview with something called Univision, carried on a the TV channel Quatro, Perez spoke about the Higuain saga, amongst other things.

“We don’t want him to go,” he said. “Furthermore, nobody from Arsenal has come here, or made an offer, not €27m, nothing. There is no offer.”

Quite what it all means we don’t know. Other than to take his words at face value, which means there’s been no offer. Or maybe he’s spoofing just to drive the price up/make us all weep/for the laugh. We don’t know.

‘Now what?’ you might ask. We suggest hugs.

Everyone needs hugs.

        • Did anyone really think we were capable of signing a player like this ?

We haven’t been able to do such since a certain Mr Dein left. That’s it ! The very spawn of Satan and the cause of all the grief in Arsenal’s little world – at least according to some people – D. Dein himself.

Instead we have ‘Ivan the Terrible’, a Dallas based American lawyer who by definition understands American law and is 3,500 miles away and of course Mr. McGoo himself.

The same team that ‘signed’ Mata and Vertongen – almost.

Still look on the the bright side. More money for Wenger; more money for Gazedis and plenty more money to sit in Arsenal’s account so Kronke can use it for leverage – and he doesn’t need to touch it, just show that it’s there – for whatever deal he’s cooking up stateside.

          Meanwhile back on the pitch………..????….!!!

        • Rob, you will no doubt get thumbed down to oblivion for your comments, if this deal doesn’t go through and others with it that we need to compete then those that thumb down so easily my need to reassess thier blind belief in those that run this club.

        • Voldemort – you are right on the money.

This is last call for Wenger/Kronke/Gazedis. They screw this window up and there is nowhere to hide. And like you, I’m sick to death of their broken promises and hot air.

We are Arsenal and we should not be ‘chicken little’ in anything. And that certainly includes incoming transfers.

        Thought not ;)

        • The best thing about Sp*rs fans is their desperation to chide and mock Gooners. I guess when you never play Champions League football and your club revolves around an ape like Welshman, jealousy takes over.

Hey, at least you might sign Leandro Damiao soon.

    • Well, this IS a saga isn’t it? As much as the papers are a bunch of hacks, between all of them consistently being wrong over 3 months and Perez being a lying, haggling prick, I would narrowly plump for the latter.

Also, David Villa for something like 4 million pounds to a title rival (as far as any non-Real-Barca team can be such a thing in Spain) is mental. Even with wages and all considered. It seems so far up our street that the sight of it passing us by is surely a sign of hope for this transfer market. And then I scroll up to the article….

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

    • Perez is indirectly calling Higuain’s family a bunch of liers.

Something that won’t be too lost on them i imagine.

Thumb up 71 Thumb down 2

  1. Sanogo up top on his own it is then! C’mon we’re Gooners, We should never EXPECT easy transfer business summers!

Thumb up 95 Thumb down 2

    • I bought my son an official Arsenal piggy bank a couple of years ago.

We still haven’t figured out how to get his money back out of the damn thing.

Oh and by the way…never ever trust a word that comes out of the mouth of a Spanish football ‘El Presidente’. Not from Real, not from Barca, and not from anywhere else.

He’ll be our player by the weekend.

Thumb up 100 Thumb down 3

      • Perez is up a PR fudge tunnel – Madrid failed to sign their primary target, their secondary target is probably off somewhere else and Barca just signed Neymar. Selling one of their strikers without getting a new ‘better’ one in looks like political suicide.

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 0

  2. Don’t worry fellas, Sanogo will bang in the 30+ goals we need next season.
But seriously what is happening? While I’m glad that we have offloaded Djourou, TGSTEL, Squid, Arshavin, Denilson, Don Vito, Academy players etc. I’m beginning to worry about our lack of signings given preseason is just a bit away.
    Still, I trust Arsene.
Maybe tomorrow we may hear the official confirmation of Messi signing for us :)!

Thumb up 28 Thumb down 22

  3. Maybe someone at Arsenal leaked it to get fans to renew our season tickets. At the risk of repeating myself. Wake me up when the season starts that way I know who we have, who we don’t have and who to continue to support

Thumb up 25 Thumb down 10

  4. This is just bullshit. Every fuckin year we (the fans) get tossed around like some cheap salad. Sp*rs have a much better pull in the transfer market at present. That hurts.

Thumb up 58 Thumb down 70

  5. This appears to be nothing but posturing from Real. They have a player who has been very vocal about wanting to leave, his agent/father has made subsequent comments which only corroborate this powerlessness which Real currently find themselves in.

    Have faith in the Law.

Thumb up 65 Thumb down 8

    • Some of it may be posturing, but he wouldn’t say that there has been no contact from Arsenal publicly if that wasn’t the case.

Thumb up 6 Thumb down 9

        • No he wouldn’t.
I think there has been numbers agreed but no official offer until Higuan’s contract details have been finalised.

Thumb up 7 Thumb down 15

      • Of course he would – the timing comes coincidentally close to the Sunday “exclusive” of arsenal bidding for the face eating Argentinian striker Madrid are trying to sign…stinks of tit-for-tat bullshit talk to drive prices up & get other clubs bidding.

        I hope.

Thumb up 4 Thumb down 1

      • he would until he know Real can sign another striker .dont forget is election time soon (i think next summer),so they will be spending big at least in the next 2 transfer window to win vote
everyone know he love to lie to make himsel look good like all good politician

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 0

    • having faith in “the Law” requires evidence that he is actually successful. previous evidence suggests otherwise like Mata

Thumb up 22 Thumb down 1

    • I wonder who would win in a hypothetical fist fight between Dick Law and Dick Pound, former president of the World Anti-Doping Agency. What a “head-to-head” that would be (fnar!).

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 1

  6. Jovetic, Higuain, Rooney, Suarez and even Cavani. Given our recent track record I’m not sure why I really bought into all this “we’re gonna spend big” stuff, but I did.

The reality is we have an injury-prone French fella on a free from a Ligue 2 club.

I still love AW but it would be nice if just once in a while he bought me a nice new outfit or took me out for a seafood dinner.

Thumb up 123 Thumb down 3

  7. I call bullshit, I think it`s all part of some mind games. I heard suggestions that we made the alleged offer for Suarez (a Madrid target) to scare Real into accepting our offer for Higuain. Maybe this is the counter strike from Perez, although I don`t know exactly how it would work since Wenger and co. must know if they have made an offer or not.

Thumb up 45 Thumb down 2

    • Strange indeed, though it could be to put the club under further pressure from disgruntled supporters with Madrid knowing that Arsenal won’t publicly comment on transfers (save for embarrassing .com secondary press reports). What Madrid haven’t counted on, however, is the club don’t care what we think regardless.

Thumb up 9 Thumb down 0

      • Or putting pressure on Arsenal by telling other clubs “Hey! Maybe Arsenal isn’t that interested in Higuain at all?”

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

        • So you think that this is Perez saying:
“Here citeh, citeh, citeh. Nice citeh. Whose a rich citeh then?”

Thumb up 5 Thumb down 0

  8. Well its a bit of our own fault to feel what we feel now isnt it :(

Never should have trusted all those “sources”.. But hey you never know.. You might just as well not trust this..

Meh, better not follow this transfer circus at all.. But then what?:( No football?? noooooo

Thumb up 8 Thumb down 0

  9. Well.. this is rather disturbing. I know as an Arsenal fan, we never look too far ahead concerning transfers but this one actually seemed likely.

Question for everyone though. We might not end up with any but who would you all prefer out of Lars Bender, Wanyama and Fellaini?
It’s a fairly tough choice but personally I would go with Bender.

Thumb up 9 Thumb down 1

    • Definitely, me too. But that’s mainly because i’ve never seen him play, which…er… goes to show what I think of the alternatives.

ps: we’ll get higuain. logic? because he is the cazorla of this window.

Thumb up 12 Thumb down 0

    • Bender for me, too (not like that. You’re disgusting.)

Fellaini is a quality player, but he’d push one of our other great midfielders out of business and leave Arteta as DM – we need a proper defensive midfielder. Wanyama is good, but I personally think we should be aiming higher.

If I had a choice, I’d actually go for Illarramendi – seems like a good, hard-working midfielder who we could use as DM.

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 4

      • He is going to real Madrid.

They have also signed Isco, who is brilliant.

Due to the amount of money they are spending I would def say they need to balance books a little, so the Higuain deal will go through.

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

      • Fellaini has stated he was played out of position this year. He wants to play deep as a DM. I think with his size and experience he could give us some real help. He is expensive but we have the money. Ivan told us so.

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 1

      • I’ve only watched Sociedad on occasion but Illarramendi seems a bit on the lighter side doesn’t he? Though I do see a lot of people comparing him to Xabi Alonso. Is this true?
Wanyama and Fellaini have their size and Bender is, no where near as built as the previous two as well but we all know of his natural talents and he isn’t quite as light as Illaramendi.

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  10. I fucking hate Real Madrid and Barcelona. They’re a bunch of duplicitous cunts who pinch every penny their humungous shitting wallets can hold, abuse the god-like status they enjoy within the Spanish media, whinge and claim origin when someone else takes their youngsters (who weren’t given the chance to break into the first team because they were busy spending ridiculous sums of money on the flavour of the month) and wank around as though football is just some elaborate stage on which they hold their theatrics. All due respect to Americans, there’s just something so fucking AMERICAN about them – all about glamour and celebrity and scandal and excess. And they fuck with us so hard. Jesus. Perez, you’re an utter, utter cunt.

  11. Arsene always says openly that we want to/ are trying to sell..? “He is a Arsenal player and we want to keep him”.. ring a bell?

Thumb up 25 Thumb down 0

  12. We can now only hope Higgy goes “Listen up, you fuckwits, you made me play second choice behind Benzema all season, I’m tired of putting up with Ronaldo’s shit, and I can get more cash playing at Arsenal- so either you’re letting me go, or you’re saying hello to my leetle friend…” while tapping his kit bag, which has an uzzi-shaped lump in the side.

Thumb up 45 Thumb down 2

  13. He’s just saying this to get a better deal. He knows Arsenal won’t comment publicly to suggest otherwise.

Thumb up 16 Thumb down 0

  14. I can’t be the only person getting Deja Vú here, as a Mata of fact this reminds me of a summer a few years back.

Thumb up 20 Thumb down 0

  15. Hopefully Perez is just posturing and there has been some communication about a reasonable fee for Higuain, or my countless hours of FIFA simulations are for shit.

Thumb up 10 Thumb down 1

  16. We’re going to be the only one’s left without a chair aren’t we….

Real are playing hardball…..gone the days when they sold star players for peanuts.

  17. it’s not happening is it.

    this will fall through.
    bentder’s back
    chamack gets a new contract

that’s whats really gonna happen isnt it?

Thumb up 28 Thumb down 1

  18. Interesting, though: IF this is true, it just proves beyond any doubt how much tripe is spewed on Twitter/in the media. I’ve read they want 2 million more, that we made a 22, 23, 27 and 29 million offer, he’s in London, he had medicals done… Now this. Somewhere a whole lot of people are making up tremendous amounts of shit. Don’t think it’s club mind games, rather hit-whoring internet ITK types.

Thumb up 33 Thumb down 1

  19. Well even on steve rowley twitter account (if its really owned by him) it says welcome to AFC Higuain.
Bah i dunno, but i think Arsenal need some new staff as even if we are going to spend its gonna be too late for pre-season training and thats just stupid.

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 1

  20. Hahaha well what were you guys expecting from cheapskate wenger?? Once he signed sanogo, i knew he wasnt gonna get any other striker. He’s too obsessed with giroud’s cock to realise how useless he is. Spurs have signed
Palinho and are about to sign villa, chelsea haved signed ginkel and shurrle, mancity have signed 2 world class players and man u will make their moves in a matter of time. But arsenal?? We’re just being the mediocre club we’ve been known to be for these last 8 years. As for the guys who are getting carried away with our form during the tail end of the season, get real!! We’ll be lucky to make the top 4 next season. Avb for one is not as dumb as redknapp was

Thumb up 14 Thumb down 61

  21. Strange, but now it all makes sense. I think Arsenal HAVE made an offer, but real madrid want more money. That suarez £30m offer was only a ploy to get Real Madrid moving. I think it’s just arsenal playing hard ball.

It’s worked with other signings but i’m not sure it will work now. the truth is that £23m for higuain is cheap in today’s market. Arsenal realistically will have to up the ante if they really want this guy to come. its a title-winning decision. If he comes and we also get fellaini, i believe we can win the title.

Thumb up 26 Thumb down 3

    • I was thinking almost the same Jomo.
My guess of what’s going on:

      Higuain definitely wants to move.

We’ve worked out personal terms with him already.

Madrid are stubbornly holding out for more cash.

We make a bid for Suarez in a way that makes sure it’ll get leaked (we don’t want him anyway so who cares).

Madrid get the message and reply with their own ‘what bid? Arsene, who? Never heard of the guy’

The only thing that is for sure is that this ain’t getting wrapped up in the next few days even if the 2 sides do come to agreement. Perez will loose face and look like a lying twat (he is btw) if it gets done that soon

Thumb up 28 Thumb down 1

  22. Expect a new signing from Kazakhstan, has great potential for the future, will add new skills in 8 years time, then we will sell him for megabucks, nothing really does change with Arsenal, just for once buy some decent players and stop worrying about paying the extra million or 2, its the supporters that are paying, ffs.

Off my chest now – thanks.

Thumb up 15 Thumb down 3

  23. 8th day of the official window, 56 to go, best ignore all the media speculation, they know nothing on Arsenal transfer negotiations so have to make up stories to keep themselves employed. They will feed off and expand on any titbit, just Google or Bing Chamackh and Levante and then read an earlier posting on the daily blog page, if you have not already done so. On a positive note, if Bayern Munich are about to sell Gomez to Fiorentina then a move for Jovetic may be sanctioned which could enable other desired moves to happen.

Thumb up 14 Thumb down 1

  24. C’mon gooners. This is Real’s response to Arsenal’s ‘turned-down’ bid for Suarez.
    Don’t you see?

It’s happening. It better fucking happen or AW’ll get my cricket bat on his knees.

Keep calm and be a gooner.

Thumb up 20 Thumb down 1

  25. You know, like most of us mighty Gooners I am biting my lip so hard blood is going everywhere!…I want to scream and shout but a tiny piece of hope remains thst we’ll sign some top, top, top players…

But if this dicking about results in another laughable transfer window where the c@nting media (who are already laughing at us bidding for Suarez) laugh at us even more when we dejectedly sign no-one to remotely give is a chance of challenging for trophies, then everyone running our glorious club can FUCK RIGHT OFF!

Thumb up 14 Thumb down 2

  26. Perez has said publicly, more than once, that Higuain is out this summer, before the stories about Arsenal came about. Given that half his quote is bullshit, I’m not putting much stock in the other half.

Thumb up 31 Thumb down 1

  27. Shouldn’t we take this with a large pinch of salt? I mean, both Higuain’s brother and father has spoken of how close we are to signing him, and that we have come with a great offer. And then suddenly Perez says that no one from Arsenal have been to Madrid at all?

Don’t know what to believe, but I guess this is just tactics from Madrid to make us offer more money.

    Those cunts.

Thumb up 24 Thumb down 1

    • ..but I guess this is just tactics from Madrid to make us offer more money.

I’m just trying to work out why he thinks that convincing us that he’s a lying cunt would be likely to make us give him more money?

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  28. Infact even Arsenal players have been talking about the move so Dirty Perez is talking stright shit, either that or he dont know whats going on at his own club, wanker

Thumb up 4 Thumb down 2

  29. its interesting that almost everybody believes what Perez has said. the cunt is lying, they were ready to let Higuain go and for some other reason now they don’t want him to leave? the agreement for Higuain’s departure was agreed upon end of the season. we are dealing with Real Madrid here, they are going to frustrate us as much as they possibly can and if we not careful we’ll end up funding Bale to Madrid move.

Thumb up 5 Thumb down 4

    • If we’re not careful? That we could give Real 25m for Higuain that they then spend on Bale sounds like best case scenario territory to me.

Thumb up 16 Thumb down 0

      • I’d much rather Spurs keep that monkey bastard than get an obscene amount of money off Madrid to improve their squad and help fund their stadium move.

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

    • Interesting, blogs is starting to develop a reputation as a ‘fake-story planter’ just to see if anyone takes the bait. Clever and all, but at what point do we need to take articles posted here with a pinch of salt? credibility, once lost, is very difficult to regain.

      PS
i hope perez chokes on some rancid tapas

Thumb up 5 Thumb down 6

  30. Mmm. if any deal does go through, it’s likely not going to be until next week – and with the team away in Asia, that means it’s likely not going to happen at all.

We really needed to be proactive this transfer window and do all our shopping before August… I’m worried now we’ll be left behind once again. We also needed to take at least one of our marquee signing with us to gel the team together. Now, I’m already worrying about next season.

Damnit Arsenal, you make it so difficult for me to love you.

Thumb up 4 Thumb down 5

    • ‘Mmm. if any deal does go through, it’s likely not going to be until next week – and with the team away in Asia, that means it’s likely not going to happen at all.’ You do know that the team come back after the Asian tour and continue with pre-season games and training right?

Thumb up 7 Thumb down 2

      • Holy shit, really?! I thought we were flying out there for the whole season? I thought that we could bring the opposing teams, they could bring their families, we’ll have a pot luck dinner and dance the night away on the Korean shores.

My point is that I can only think of one player that we’ve signed while the team has been away on tour (Gerv). I know Wenger’s not the main man chasing these guys up and down the continent, but it does seem that during our pre-season friendlies we don’t focus on the transfer window as much.

Higuain is leaving Real Madrid this summer, that’s almost a certainty. The longer we wait, the longer we faff around, the more likely it is that the chavs or $hitteh will go, “Well, we can’t get our top transfer targets. Higuain looks like a good buy. Here’s £30m, Perez.” Transfer done and dusted in 48 hours, and we’re left looking pretty fucking foolish waving our wallet around desperately at all the top players going to other clubs.

Having said that, I’m still holding out some hope that we’ll get the deal done this week. Fingers crossed.

Thumb up 4 Thumb down 6

  31. Higuain wants to go, he made up his mind last season. Arsenal are the only club in for him. He wants to go to Arsenal. Personal terms were agreed. There’s no way Real can keep him now. They openly wanted him to go a couple months ago too. Madrid will end up getting a couple million extra and the deal will be done.

This is the age of player power and according to reports in Spain Higuain wants his agents to force through a move before the end of this week so he can avoid having to meet with Ancelotti on the 15th.

Perez is just talking out of his ass and wants to get a few million extra for the transfer fee. I would be truly be stunned if this deal didn’t go through.

Thumb up 27 Thumb down 1

  32. Daddy/agent says things are close, he may just mean on personal terms. So perez could in fact be right. And if he is it doesn’t mean we wont soon once personal terms are finalized

Thumb up 5 Thumb down 0

  33. If perez havnt recieved an offer, would he let higgiz repz talk to arsenal?? And even agree personal terms?? Fact is.. Madrid have now lost out on their Cf top targets.., falcao,cavani.lewandowski.. They want to keep higuain now, but the young man is having none of it..he wants to play in the EPL(the best league in the world) for one of the 4th most valuable club in the world.. Madrid no chance you keeping a sad player in your team.

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 2

    • I will plead ignorance to the nitty gritty of football transfer negotiations and all the procedural nuances. However it does happen a few times in American sports (obviously not the same types of transactions but bear with me) where a player is on the trade block and tells the player he can negotiate terms and then the teams will work out a trade.

I’m sure its not out of the realm of possibility it could happen here. After all we’re all capitalist right? RIGHT!?

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 21

  38. If this is true or not I don’t know.
But I can guarantee you that there won’t be any substential improvements to the squad. We don’t just need 1 player. I have got the feeling that the club will feck this up again and then we’ll get one panic buy for loads of money just to keep the fans happy (see Arshavin).
There has been a slight stagnation in the quality of the squad during the last 5 years and we’ll pay the price soon. Hope everyone at the club’s happy with his pockets filled.

    Just soooo annoying.

    • Whether you’re happy with this news or not, you know that Arsene will not say anything interesting/meaningful about this. And that’s OK. What’s not OK is wasting ours and everybody’s time.

Thumb up 5 Thumb down 0

  42. well real madrid are idiots to deal with transfers!!!!! its like arsenal tightest rich club vs perez

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 2

  43. Here’s what’s happened:
-Arsenal and Madrid have clearly been negotiating fee
-Madrid have intimated they would reject an official offer at this point
-So we technically haven’t made a bid, although Madrid knows our valuation
-They want to encourage other bidders
    -Perez is a twat

Thumb up 31 Thumb down 2

  44. Vino,

that could be true, we think the hig is worth £21m and real think £25m
we go ok fine, we wont pay that lets bid on your target £30m for saurez we think he is worth that much

maybe we have the balls now not to mess around

Thumb up 12 Thumb down 0

    • Think this will run on and on, but we might drop out if they don’t negotiate soon. Think the Suarez talk suits Liv and Arsenal’s agendas, would love to know who our back up for Higuain actually is. Is all smoke and mirrors, the Bender/Suarez stuff looks to be really ham-fisted from us if true…

Thumb up 6 Thumb down 0

      • Well, with Mario Gomez in Florence, one would infer that Jovetic is on the move, though maybe not to us.

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 0

  45. Vino,

Well i dont know what higunin back up will be because David Villa has signed for atletico madrid and mario gomez going to fiorentina!!!!

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

  46. Given that Jack is already following higuain on twitter (the only non arsenal player that is non English, he is following) …I just wanna believe something is up. Perez is just talking…

Thumb up 10 Thumb down 1

  47. Check goal.com. ….. higuains dad was trolling us. …. thers is nothing happening we got sanogo up front with giroud. Live wit it.

Thumb up 4 Thumb down 17

  48. @mike….did you just call arshavin a panic buy?? He never was! He was a star that just didn’t shine enough for us.

Thumb up 7 Thumb down 1

    • @R7
Yeah I called him a panic buy because of the timing they brought him in. We bought him in winter when it wasn’t going well AND fans got impatient. No doubt he came as a quality player.

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 2

  49. Does anyone else think that, rather than working against us this might be Real doing us a favour? As others have said we have a history of players coming and going where the exact same thing has been stated officially.

I have a couple of potential reasons behind this:

    1. Arsenal just don’t like their transfers being disclosed in the media.
    2. By denying there has been a bid it implies that Real are playing “hardball” and when coupled with the other statements regarding a meeting with Ancelotti are not inclined to sell. This then deters other bidders.

Illogical you say? Not if the deal is done and/or in the final stages, i.e. medical, contract offer etc.

Just trying to look at the glass half full I suppose.

Thumb up 9 Thumb down 1

  50. If I was Ancellotti I would not want to lose Higuain at all as he is better than Benzema. £23m is not his true worth and I have this sickening feeling that this transfer is not going through. Fuck.

Thumb up 8 Thumb down 0

    • Have to agree with that, i think Ancellotti is the fly in the ointment here. Madrid were happy to sell and Hig happy to leave before Carlo arrived, now it seems Carlo may be about to offer Higuian the assurance he wants to stay at Madrid. Also there are’nt many options available to replace Higauian at Madrid.

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

  51. I just translated the Spanish article and it says, “I can assure you that nobody from Arsenal has offered nothing to Madrid”, that’s a double negative, so we have made an offer, WOOHOO, Perez is slier than I thought!

Thumb up 20 Thumb down 2

  52. I must be drunk reading this. Must Keep repeating to myself “this is all a dream, this is all a dream..perez has confirmed the deal is in place he will join the team for pre season”.

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 2

  53. You know he’s having a dig at Arsenal when he describes Spu*s as:

“a club we enjoy good relations with”

    Fuck this guy.

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 2

  54. This is posturing from Perez. They want more money. Because you should all know that any offer that isn’t accepted isn’t really an offer, just an enquiry.

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 3

  55. This is definitely BS by Perez. Madrid just spent a fuck load on Isco and now are trying to play hardball saying they want to keep Higuain. For all the time spent by the media talking about this transfer Perez could have said he wasn’t for sale to stop further speculation, he chose now for a reason the slimy prick! Madrid may be rolling in cash but they still have to balance the books to an extent. Only Arsenal know if they’ve made a bid or not and this is Perez hoping he can get some other.. Richer clubs in on the action. FUCK YOU PEREEEZ SUCK MAH BAAALLS

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 3

  56. arsenal made fair offer, they got tons of money and are still they are trying to get some more cashh haha ..

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 2

  57. I don’t believe itI don’t believe itI don’t believe itI don’t believe itI don’t believe itI don’t believe itI don’t believe itI don’t believe itI don’t believe itI don’t believe it.
WTF is going on with this crap. All the talk all the news all the shit spreading??? It can’t be true and I would guess it could be a response for all the Shite talk about beaver teeth today. I DON’T BELIEVE IT !!

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 2

  58. We obviously have made a bit lets be realistic.

But a statement like “we have had no bid from arsenal” implies that contract negotations have broken down or perhaps Real are putting preasure on Arsenal e.g. fans getting on the clubs back to sign Higuain.

Dont presume anything fellow Gonners! clear your minds must be xD

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 3

  59. People relax, Arsenal always keep quiet about transfers and have probably requested the same from Real. What matters is that hopefully both clubs will reach a deal that they’ll both be happy with and he’ll score shed loads of goals for us. If he doesn’t sign then…. PANIC!!!!!

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 2

  60. i don’t get all the fuss. this is now a classic modern arsenal transfer, ticking all the frustrating boxes. surely he’ll be ours by end of week.

anything straight forward like :we need a striker, bid, agree terms, sign. i’d be suspicious. even when he was running round the pitch in an arsenal shirt i’d be looking at him out of the corner of my eye in suspicion that we still haven’t signed him….

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  61. Allow me to be positive (yes, take your jaws off the floor): what he may really be saying is that no OFFICIAL bid has been made for Higuain. This may be an attempt to ratchet up the pressure on Wenger and the Board in order to get the amount of money that they are demanding for the striker. I can’t believe that there could be so much talk about a deal if one wasn’t in the offering.

But if he is telling the truth then Wenger and the board as a bunch of total cunts.

Thumb up 21 Thumb down 2

    • ‘But if he is telling the truth then Wenger and the board as a bunch of total cunts’…. Damn, so close. Almost a full positive house there Fats

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 0

  62. As if Higuain would change anything. Van Persie smashed in 37 goals, and that didn’t change anything. Problem is, none of you or Wenger, have a fucking clue what Arsenal needs to challenge for the title or Champions League.

This team needs major surgery. Beating a load of shitty teams at the end of the season means fuck all. At “big” clubs, virtually all our players would be warming the bench every week – if that – and you chumps expect them to win the league if we sign Higuain. Idiots.

Thumb up 10 Thumb down 15

  63. Like someone said earlier, Tottenham at the moment are able to attract better players than we can. What pisses me off the most is the arrogance of Wenger. Which other coach in their reasonable mind will offer a player lower wages than he earns just cos he’s coming to arsenal?? For christ sake, we havent won anything in 8 years, yet he acts like we’re fucking barca or something. Signs useless players like park….i give up. This has just ruined my day.

Thumb up 6 Thumb down 14

  64. Do you honestly think Arsenal made a bid for Saurez just so Madrid would panic and sell us Higuain? To be honest I haven’t got a bloody clue if we’re serious about Higuain, I hope we are because there is no way the management and board would escape a lynching if we don’t spend “proper” money!

Thumb up 5 Thumb down 0

  65. Without being privy to inside info, it’s hard to know for certain, but one could be forgiven for getting the impression that ‘Transfer Fixer’ Dick Law is a complete and utter fuckingimbecile (see this, the Suarez bid, getting Dicked around – see what I did there – by Joel Bloody Campbell’s agents for ages, failing to activate Mata’s release clause in time and so on).

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 3

  66. Dial square. You know as well as anyone mate that arsenal fans will suffer the three card trick, season after season we get mugged off.
I believe we will get higuain but him alone is not enough to help us challenge for trophies and that’s where the problem lies for me.

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 4

  67. Some of the negative comments are just comedy gold – keep the negativity rolling. 1 player cannot propel Arsenal to trophies – we need a strong TEAM – not a couple of very good player and bunch of average ones.

Thumb up 5 Thumb down 5

  68. well, who the fuck do we trust now? the agent says personal terms agreed, (fairly sure we need a provisional offer accepted for them to even begin)

President says no offer made let alone deal

    player wants out

all im waiting for now is exclusive itk source quotes higuain “the president was high i’m already in london screw you real”

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 0

  69. To be fair, I can’t stand the transfer window for this very reason. The papers haven’t a clue about what’s really going on, I don’t think anyone does, this to me seems like a cheap shot by Perez to ramp up the stakes a little. It’s designed to make the fans panic. We have just started pre season, it’s not the end of the world. I will be astonished if this is true, because quite simply put, WTF have the board been doing in the last few weeks? I maintain the hope that we will spend, simply because of the pressure Gazidis has put on himself and Arsene Wenger, by stating that we want to be ambitious and that we can now compete to some extent with the biggest clubs in the world. Just on that alone, I have the confidence in these guys to fix up and get what needs to be done. Keep the faith guys, the media wants us to panic, if we haven’t got nobody by August, then yes panic. Until then, lets get behind them. C’mon the Arsenal

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  70. I hope we have started looking elsewhere as I think Madrid need to be put back in their box. Start the process elsewhere and see what happens.

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  71. Despite what Perez has said I still maintain hope that we might get this deal done. But that doesnt cover up the fact that the people responsible for our transfer activities has been piss poor of late. We seem to take a hell lot of time signing any one. Always. But then you see other clubs being linked to a player, make an offer, get it accepted, have a medical, signed by the end of the 2nd week. This is the biggest summer of Wenger’s reign. Please dont let it be fucked up. Meanwhile. Hugs all round.

Thumb up 6 Thumb down 3

  72. For the same price who would u sign Higuain or Suarez.

IMO Suarez is a class act a brilliant player who has proven he can play in the premier league.

And i believe Suarez is a superior stiker to even RVP thats what i believe and if he didnt bite a player he would of got the golden boot even if RVP stepped up his game that outcome would remian the same.

Suarez over Higuain anyday but this is just what i think, right? at the end of the day you can think whatever the FUCK you wanna think?!

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 7

  73. If you think you know heartbreak, wait till you fall in love with the Arsenal.
FFS Hig, if ain’t signing that sh*t gimme back my damn pen. We’ve waited for eternity. Use the pen not your dad’s mouth n release us from this pain.
BTW love is RED n in London!

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 1

  74. Vold you’re right mate, I do know that better than anyone else, but surely Arsene and the board must know they can’t bullshit and fob us off again, they just fucking can’t!! If they don’t spend and we finish outside the top four, Wenger would be finished and all the good work he’s ever done would count for fuck all,so, I just don’t believe they won’t spend big. (I know!!!)

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 0

  75. Guy’s I hate to say it but….

Real Madrid & Spuds have an understanding, I believe Bale wants to play Champions League football so they will use Higuain as bait to land their top target & Spuds need a striker.

Hope it’s not the case though

Thumb up 3 Thumb down 1

    • Wouldn’t it make more sense for them to sell Higuain to us so that Spurs misses out on CL again and Bale demands to leave? The idea is that Ronaldo will probably head back to Man U after this season, and only then does Real Madrid break the bank for Bale. Simple.

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 1

  76. What’s all the fuss about? Eight years without a trophy, surely we can wait 47 days for some signings. I know I can.

Thumb up 4 Thumb down 3

  77. Like most on here suspect, I too think it’s strange. If we don’t sign him, which I hope we do, it won’t go down well with most fans. My head will explode soon if we don’t make a signing.

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

  78. Lets put a bid in for chimp boy bale to see of that speeds things up, suarez would be better money spent than gonzalo but he looks like a rat wi them teeth, why do we want to spend 25mil on madrids second string strikers anyway! Loosing the will to live!

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 3

    • Because Higuain will have the courtesy to speak to Wenger about leaving the club rather than bite a chunk out of some player.

I mean imagine if We got Suarez, and he bit Bale as a signal of intent to leave the club. There isn’t a tetanus shot strong enough to give to Suarez that would untaint him enough that we could recoup our loses on transfer fee.

Magnificent Player, complete wanker as a human being.

should also be noted that it’s bad enough that UEFA hates Arsenal, without making us a target of the FA by having him in our team.

Thumb up 6 Thumb down 0

  79. Half of me is thinking good on us if they’re being cunts. And if the Suarez thing has provoked this reaction, then fuckin good.

The other half is saying if they want a fee mill more just fuckin pay it before anyone else realises we’re getting a steal.

And the third half is wondering why I just drank so much cider.

Thumb up 5 Thumb down 0

  80. Why the surprise?
How about a bet that we’ll end up signing NO marquee players this transfer window?
Just a couple of French / afro ‘promising’ youngsters?
Wenger and co can trouser the rest.

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 5

  81. Ya know,

while it is very honourable that we follow a club steeped in tradition, one of which is not to play out transfers in public it can be unfair on both us and the club.

I am in no way defending the club here, and speaking very hypothetically before the thumbs down brigade appear on what I say next. Has the club, that being the mighty Arsenal, at any stage declared an interest in Higuain.

Is it not within the realms of possibility that we have never ever been interested in this player, but because of media hype, sky sports drive to make money out of non stories around their betting, and player/club agents use of the Arsenals ‘supposed’ gazillions in a war chest to drive up interest and price of assets that has lead us all on to believe that we are chasing this player..

and If that be true, and I pray to the almighty Henry that it isn’t, is it not unfair of us as fans to play our part in making stories up by firing a broadside at Arsenal for it – the club we all love.

I am speaking as objectively as I can and feel the pain this story as keenly as the rest of you, but maybe that’s because I like a lot of you wanted this story to be true so much – but the transfer may still go through yet because the president of that club is as bigger cunt as that other team in Spain.

Thumb up 4 Thumb down 2

  82. I’m so fucking bored. If we end up not getting Higuain and getting Gareth Barry for seemingly no reason I might just cry and then start laughing maniacally and then do something really stupid. Not sure what yet though.

Thumb up 5 Thumb down 0

  83. Wouldn’t be at all surprised if, under this cloud of confusion regarding Higuain, we unveil the signing of Benteke instead

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

  84. 1 unknown bought.
No bid for Higuin (if you believe it), Grenier bid rejected and benders bid rejected.
Bit of a slow start to the transfer season.

Maybe its a ploy to pretend we are trying to spend some money?

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

  85. And we miss out on both Villa and Gomez… why? Villa I can understand somewhat a lack of interest but wouldn’t Gomez tick a lot of boxes for us?

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 1

  86. I swear to god if we see another wenger “we have plenty of options up front, Giroud, Sanogo, Don’t forget that also walcott and podolski can play there, that is 4 strikers, blah blah blah”

I will, have lost all faith in this world. We deserve this signing, we deserve to have something make us smile for once in the past 7 years, rather than being manically depressed about our lost players.

I find it hard to believe that we haven’t made any sort of bid if Higuain’s father indeed did say they had permission to talk to Arsenal.

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 1

    • Agree. And what will they do with all their money?

Anyway, the priority for me remains to buy a defensive midfielder, because Arteta’s fabulous work is not enough. We need to secure the midfield with a talented midfielder like Fellaini or Bender, but again, we are not close to find a deal for them.

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

  87. If Higuain played for Arsenal at this moment in time with three years left on his contract, just coming in to his prime as a player (25/26 years old) and Real Madrid offered us £23M for him we’d tell them to F*CK OFF and rightly so.
There are only so many strikers of a certain standard to go round and lots of clubs in the EPL and Europe who need a new striker and can afford this sort of transfer fee. Offer the £30M he is worth and get the job done before we once again lose out because of penny pinching.
Money in the bank will not score you 25 goals a season!

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0

  88. It’s a stange one this, why say “Furthermore, nobody from Arsenal has come here, or made an offer, not €27m, nothing.” Why menion €27m? If we haven’t made an offer why say a figure? I think we have made an offer but its below what they want. We have the money and our CEO has said on numerous occasions, they know we have the money so FFS just pay up!

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 1

    • £23,000,000 (the figure we’ve been reported as offering) is about €27,000,000, so that would explain his quoted figured

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  89. I know you don’t like people posting other websites on here Blogs but this article -http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2013/jul/08/arsenal-gonzalo-higuain-real-madrid is actually a pretty good piece of writing
