We made not have hit a century, but my word didn’t we score some corkers on our way to 99 goals this season…

In total Arsenal had 19 different goal scorers during the season. Olivier Giroud ended with the club’s golden boot notching 22 (16 in the league), while Aaron Ramsey grabbed a creditable 16 (not bad for someone missing a good chunk of the season) and Lukas Podolski nipped into third place with a late run to take him to 12.

Interestingly, of the players who featured more than 10 times during the season only Thomas Vermaelen and Nacho Monreal failed to score.

Anyway, enough of that…

From the team’s orgasma-goal against Norwich to Rambo’s deft FA Cup winning strike, Rosicky’s dink and banger against Sp*rs to Giroud’s Bergkamp-esque control and finish versus West Ham, watch every strike (again and again and again) in under 10 minutes courtesy of the man-made-to-montage, @CulannDavies.

  2. Interesting seeing Walcotts impact, assists, goals, just running in in the attacks. Given he’s injury I think it’s impressive and that we forget how important a player he really is.

  6. I love it, this clearly took a lot of time and effort, so well done. The only thing is, I think it’s missing Theo’s vs Cardiff at home.

  8. Lovely, might even be worth purchasing the season review dvd this time round, can even half smile at the horrible defeats to Liverpool and Chelsea safe in the knowledge that they won fuck all and we won the cup! Oh yes, so happy right now.

  11. a little bit off topic, but folks in america were bemoaning the fact gus johnson was calling the game. however, his call for the ramsey goal was brilliant. called it the way a true gooner would have. on the other hand martin tyler’s call was pathetic.

go to youtube and check what i’m saying.

  20. There were some fantastic goals in there. And everyone played their part: Ramsey, Theo, Giroud, Wilshere, Ozil, Podolski, Cazorla, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain.

  22. Brilliant. While many players featured in patches, due to injury or form, Giroud was a bit handy throughout. He’s been vital for us and ran himself into the ground. Topped it off with a great back heel

  23. just one direct free kick goal – FA cup final – 2 – 0 down.. what a time to score one.. hats off to santi for pulling it off under so much pressure

  24. Just think if Bendtner’s perfectly good goal away at City had not been ruled out for offside that would have been the 100. We’ve been on the end of some shocking decisions from officials this season.

  25. Watching this it’s hard to see how anyone could question Ozil’s contribution this season, especially given that he was injured after the Everton game for a good few weeks. Can we expect more? Of course, but to call him a flop is just plain blinkered.

  27. Özil’s goal celebration is one of my favourite things. He’s sort of like Ronaldo except he doesn’t take himself anywhere near as seriously. He’s hilarious in a way no other footballer is.

  28. I tell you what, having watched that, when Sanogo finally scores it’s going to be voted the greatest goal football has ever seen.

  29. Giroud looks like a hell of a player from watching this video. He’s involved in a high percentage of these goals (Not as many as Ramsey, but definitely a lot of them.), and his contribution often looks particularly skillful. Interesting.

  30. Best 5 minutes since Saturday!

Watching that video makes me think we do not need any new signings!!

And then 6-3/5-1/6-0 brings me make to earth……. They are almost scores in a tennis match!

  31. Just wanted to say thanks for both videos and for a great season of coverage from Blogs and everyone at Arseblog, including the comment community.

Viewing all the season’s goals tells a convincing story of the deep attacking capacities of this squad. There’s just so many potent threats on goal in this lineup. Cazorla, Ramsey, Ozil, Walcott, Podolski, Wilshire, Ox, Giroud, Rosicky. We can put teams to the knife so many different ways.

With this firepower, it’s no wonder Arsenal were a deadly threat to most every mid and bottom table side last year. And if the youthful core of this team stays together and grows…holy shit, we’re in for some fun times to come!

The two key areas for improvement, for me, are these:

    1. Transition out of defense/midfield and beating the press. This was the key weak point so many times this season, especially against top sides. (CL/PL) If clubs are willing to press us hard, they can often stun Arsenal and isolate our rearguard and force our midfield into rushed turnovers. This has to be remedied if our record at the top level is to improve.

    2. More agressive dribbling runs to unlock the final third from midfield. Atletico are a good example and contrast here…they are always agressively attacking the opponents’ final third with surging runs out of midfield, oftentimes with multiple players/outlets. Too often, Arsenal looked like we were aiming to settle into an extended lateral siege from just outside the final third. We have too little effective threat off the direct dribble.

For me, any players who can help remedy the above would be welcome additions. Clearly, we need to make up for any defensive departures and add to our strike force with one or two quality players who are fast and can dribble (I don’t think we need a superstar striker necessarily, just greater depth in quality and some direct attacking play), but for me, a young “top, top” defensive midfielder/playmaker/leader would likely be the best place to put our main focus and expenditures…and help us unlock the key to improving our record at the highest level…
