Rob Holding says that last night’s EFL Cup exit at the hands of Southampton was disappointing due to the quality of Arsenal’s squad and the presence of some ‘big’ players in last night’s team.
The Gunners went down 2-0 thanks to goals from Jordy Clasie and Ryan Bertrand, leaving the former Bolton man downhearted.
“You look at the players we had out tonight, there were some big players and you think with the strength of the squad, a second string team can get all the way – but it wasn’t to be,” he told Arsenal Player.
“It was a chance to get some silverware at the end of the season, so I’m disappointed to be out of the competition. There’s not much more I can say really.
“We’ve just got to learn from it and it’ll only help us in the coming years.”
Holding, despite the loss, showed again he’s a defender of some potential, and both he and Gabriel at centre-half did well all things considered.
