Video: Arsenal still need more off-field appointments

The excitement among Arsenal fans has been palpable this week by two massive signings: a gym instructor, and a lawyer.

We kid, of course. Darren Burgess is a highly rated fitness expert who will join from AFL side Port Adelaide, while Huss Fahmy has arrived from Team Sky to look after legal elements of player contracts.

In this Gunnervlog, James looks at these appointments but says Arsenal still need to do more.

I for one can’t wait for the unveiling photo shoot. Holding an Arsenal tie over their heads, twiddling a pen through their fingers for a bit of showboating. We might even get to see some high level Excel Spreadsheet work.

I need a lie down, this is all too much for me

In the picture above, Gazidis looks like a bald John Terry 😱😱😱

For me, he’s always looked like Jon Hamm’s older brother.

Just in time with the new kit being unveiled and all

I mostly just want to see the signings

Not sure i understand what we are proposing with a ‘director of football’. Just searching on t’internet it seems it can mean a number of things.

If it’s somebody who decides which players to sign not sure that is a good idea, and can see why Wenger wouldn’t want to give control of that up. Or any manager for that matter.

Sorry, slightly off-topic but why does it always seem that other top teams get their business done first? Why are we so slow? This summer we need decisive action. Mbappe is a tantalising fantasy but it’s just a fantasy. He’s not gonna sign for us. If I’m wrong I’ll very happily eat my words. But why does it seem like we’re snail-like (yet again) in the transfer market? (On another note – kudos to the club for the Finsbury Park floral tribute though)

To be fair we might be taking decisive action. We do like to play our cards close to our chest.

Will find out soon enough I suppose.

City, United and Chelsea are prepared to pay double what a player is worth which probably makes it easier for them …

Stuff in the papers is 100% lies. Real Madrid haven’t bid on Mbappe. Probably neither have we, not 100m anyway.

An excellent argument by Gunnerblog. I love the idea of contracts for Alexis and Özil that mean they can never leave. Assuming, of course, that he can also persuade them to “sign da ting”.
