Holding eyeing another trip to Wembley

Rob Holding says he’s eager to win as many trophies as possible at Arsenal and hopes he can help guide the Gunners to the Carabao Cup final after successfully beating West Ham 1-0 to book a place in the semi-finals.

The Gunners overcame the Hammers courtesy of Danny Welbeck’s scruffy first half goal with Holding and centre-back partner Calum Chambers impressing in a solid defensive display.

After the match, the 22-year-old admitted he was pleased with his run out and how Arsene Wenger’s second string are coping with their game time in non-Premier League matches.

“Yes, [I’m] definitely [happy with my performance],” he told Arsenal.com.

“We kept a clean sheet and that’s the main thing for us as defenders and I didn’t really remember them having a shot and testing Ospina, so it’s a positive to take out.”

Having been in and out of the team since the start of the season – Holding has 15 appearances to his name this campaign – the defender admitted that it does take time to get going in some games, including last night’s win.

“A little bit, you could say that, we train with the team that is going in the Premier League, so we keep at it in the cups and we’ve proved ourselves I think in the last couple of months in the cups and progressed.

“It’s decent to get into the semi-finals and hopefully we can get to the final.

“I want to win as many trophies as I can in my career, so to get to the final and have another chance of winning one is perfect.”

The Gunners will find out who they face in the Carabao Cup semi-finals after this evening’s quarter-finals, sometime around 10pm. Manchester United face Bristol City at Ashton Gate while Chelsea host Bournemouth.

Already in the pot are Manchester City who beat Leicester City on penalties last night.
