Arsenal have confirmed the signing of left-back Andre Santos from Turkish side Fenerbahce.

The 28-year-old Brazilian international signs a long-term deal at the Emirates and will wear the number 11 shirt.

Speaking about his move to the Gunners, Santos revealed:

“I am delighted to have signed for Arsenal. It was one of my dreams to play for a major European football club and I have accomplished this. I am very happy to be part of this team.

“All the Brazilians who came to this club spoke wonders about it and I am delighted to be part of the Arsenal family.”

Bom dia Andre!

Looks like an exciting attacking player, but i hope that doesn’t mean he’s prone to defensive errors!

Hell yea! This is awesome news! Why did we have to wait till the last day to get tidbits this like?

Concur absolutely. No changing things now, but a whole summer of fretting would have been alleviated somewhat by seeing the ‘major’ signings come in once every couple of weeks. I know absolutely thats a pipe dream and the market doesn’t work like that, but maybe it would have stopped the haters spitting vitriol daily.

I guess AW is an optimist and was looking for Traore to turn up against Man Utd. But after that disaster, even a pennyless club would go in for a signing. I think we should keep this fellow away from the gum.

its extremely highly likely that both the santos and traore moves were in place well before the united game. you don’t sign a player in a couple days.

Arsenal Bystander

True, poor foresight by wenger.

Arsenal Bystander

If he expected Traore to leave, he should have tried to get Santos in earlier.

Him and Gervinho on that left will be a stunning attacking force!

Shweet! Really excited by this and sad to see that some people aren’t… Like you bitch if we don’t make signings, you bitch about how crap our players are, you bitch when we sign players, you bitch when we sell our useless players… GTFO… Anyway as pleased as I am about this signing I just have to say wtf took so long! If we didn’t lose 8-2 would we have continued with the wonderful Troare? Makes you think hey… Anyway just need Per and 2 quality creating midfielders and I think we are sorted… Just annoyed that it took so long for the board and Wenger to wake up!

Most people I’m the know seem to think he’s a class player and will suit us perfect that will do for me, but badly need a top creative midfielder or we are back to square one … Almost

Really like this guy. He’s not as quick as our previous run of left-backs but hopefully he can do the job defensively.

If Arsenal were going to sign a left-back earlier in the summer it would not have been Santos. My guess is Santos only became available after Fenerbahce was forced out of the Champions League for match-fixing. Not saying what the right answer is, but it couldn’t be a Santos signing in June.

Saw a YouTube compilation of him…

…FUCK ME! I think we’ve just signed the second coming of Ronaldinho!

Don’t know what he’s like at defending (if he knows about offside, he’ll be an improvement on Clichy) but he knows how to run from inside his own half, go past a couple of defenders and cunt the ball into the top corner.

Exciting times.

Welcome Andy Two Saints:)
