Muller looking to strike against under pressure Arsenal

Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller says that Arsenal are under ‘huge pressure’ to get a result tomorrow night, having lost their opening two games of the Champions League season.

Defeats to Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos mean that the Gunners really have to win against the German champions if they are to have any realistic hope of qualification, and Muller is hoping to take advantage of the extra weight on their shoulders.

“Arsenal are under huge pressure ahead of the game”, he said. “It’s certainly a game I’m looking forward to.

“We won the last two games here, and I scored in both games. Tomorrow I will go on the pitch and remember good memories of playing here. We’re all excited, but it’ll be no walk in the park!

“Both teams play an attacking game. In the end I hope it’s a good game, but a better one for us.”

Bayern know that Arsenal will look to start strongly, as they did against Man Utd two weeks ago, so coach Pep Guardiola’s plan is to dampen the atmosphere by denying possession to Arsene Wenger’s team.

“I read what Arsenal players said today about being aggressive in the first 10 minutes,” he said. “To push us, press us, and use the atmosphere.

“The best way to calm that atmosphere is to have the ball.”

And the Spaniard believes that Arsenal have the upper hand despite his team’s record so far this season.

“They have an advantage, because they have to win. When you have these kind of players at this club, with this history, you want to make the best performance possible.

“I cannot expect a team that doesn’t fight for 90 minutes. You have to look for another way to compete against this kind of situation, and we have to be so intelligent and control our game.

“I know we can’t control 90 minutes here in London, we have to be ready to defend. We want the ball, they want the ball, the team that in the end has more of the ball will be closest to winning the game.”

Better not play Ospina this game.

Jijo

Boss confirmed Ospina is out injured..

Jijo

That diver isn’t there to save you this time Pep..! I am pretty sure he will be shit scared about us starting the same way as we did last year..!

Alex

Muller is a terrific diver and cheater too…

Timo

I saw Francis Coquelin at Westfield in Shepherd’s Bush yesterday. He looked like he wanted to tackle everyone he saw. Was heartwarming.

True story.

TheArsenalWay

Was he walking with a bodyguard? Doubt he would need one anyway… Did you even say hi? Did others notice him? I thought famous people didn’t go out to public? Are you even telling the truth? Too many questions? Okay, I’ll stop now.

Nez

Bayern will play possession-base football so we are denied creating chances that could lead to goals. Therefore,we need width and I reckon,Walcott should be on the wing to curb the forays of Douglas Costa. Theo’s pace is still our weapon and their defence is not that strong. Walcott and Sanchez should be running at them.

Gunnersaurus

Bayern players and staff come across as so humble. Good luck to them after tomorrow of course

izzymuzzet

Fuck that. Peps a Barcacunt. Can’t stand any Barcacunts, nor robben the cheating cunt.

Pedant

After the return leg.

These are the kind of games that players and fans look forward to most. Given Bayern’s recent vulnerability to us back at the Allianz, I rather think pressure is more evenly distributed than he thinks.

ThaatArsenalGuy

Muller is an evil football robot

We are more dangerous on counter than at tikitaka, we always have been. And guess what bayern are vulnerable on counter, like aguero showed us last season against them. We have much better players this time around and a more balanced team. I say we can beat bayern with 40% popossession, if we defend like we did against man city last year or against Chelsea in CS. Thats the only way to beat bayern imo, coz they have some fast player who can hurt us on counter, so would rather let them have the ball and hurt them if the… Read more »

David C

my favourite comment so far. I just had the flashback of Ozil missing that penalty against them. I’d like to make new memories tomorrow! Ozil is in great form now and coming up against the German team should motivate him even more.

COYG!!!

Chibuike

Bayern can’t win us the problem we will have is strong start if we can start well who is Bayern to beat us

Ozil's eyes

Whatever the result this game promises to be a worldy. It’s like watching Rihanna and Rita Ora wrestling in chocolate

Danger Mouse

As long as its not like Rihanna and Rita Ora singing.

Lapo Gooners

wrestling in bikini? let the game begins.

Eva

At least they appreciate the quality of the pitch. Müller described it as “not being very different from a living room carpet”.

Ferngunner

Need wingers in Jan…Lass Bangoura of Vallecano could be good business. Off/T

Gunnersaurs's Lover

Wingers? Surely you must be joking. Striker and a new midfilder should be the priority in the next transfer windows. Not that I care anyway, we have a very strong squad at the moment.

ClockEndRider

Guess who’s been playing FIFA Football Manager…..

dholio

Just remember those first 10-15 min at the Emirates when we last played Bayern until Ozil had his penalty saved and then later all momentum was officially stopped when Robben dived and conned the ref.
We are a better team now and as long as we kerp 11 men on the pitch, possiblw Blitzkrieg ala Arse style!

Alexstratz

“The team that in the end has more of the ball will be closest to winning the game.” And that is where you fail, Guardiola.

Arsepedant

Muller and Pep trying mind games but they’re not as good at it as Le Prof. Maybe it’s just me, but I got a sort of “clutching at straws” sense out of Muller’s comments, and Pep seems to contradict himself. It gives me the impression that they’re not very confident at all.

Yinka

The only way to win this is through demonic counter attacking football. Give them possession. Guardiola’s teams always want the ball. They can have it. We have the squad that can catch them on the break and wreck havoc

Who Do You Think You Are Kidding Mr Muller If You Think We’re On The Run?
