Report: Yacine Adli set to stay at PSG

29

According to various reports coming out of France, Arsenal target Yacine Adli will sign a new deal at Paris Saint Germain.

A couple of weeks ago, RMC claimed that the 17-year-old midfielder, who was handed his Ligue 1 debut by Unai Emery on the final day of last season, was on the verge of penning a three-year contract at the Emirates. Then, over the weekend, they suggested the player was having second thoughts.

In response, the teenager took to social media to write, “You have no idea what you’re on about”. Just for good measure, he tagged himself in Paris. All very confusing.

It now looks as though Adli will stay put at the Parc des Princes with PSG Sporting Director Antero Henrique winning his scrum with Sven Mislintat, Raul Sanllehi and our contract guy.

The Gunners would only have paid €255,000 in compensation for one of Europe’s hottest teen prospects.

Having been close to a deal, it’s a blow, but more on the PR front than anything else. After all, we’ve lured top teenage talent to the club time and time again, some making debuts soon after their arrival, but very few actually live up to the hype.

It looks like we’ll never know with Adli.

Just because it isn’t happening now doesn’t mean the last reports weren’t (partly) true. Lots of things can happen very quickly in football.

What next? Sokratis renews contract with Dortmund? Torreira quits football to join a boyband in Spain? Gelson Martins enrolls in a Sports Psychology PhD program in Lisbon? Joel Campbell recalled? Silvestre hired as assistant coach?

….. anxiety..

The real question is…

… will he be a part of “Unai Emery’s ‘almost signed’ best XI?”

Stay tuned for next 5 years to find out!

yeah, except the report that provoked the response from him said he was in London all set to sign when he had second thoughts, so maybe he was just saying they didn’t know what they were talking about in the sense that he was in Paris and had already made up his mind to stay at PSG (then again, he was definitely pictured in London earlier today (supposedly to meet with his agent), so who knows).

Much more invested in Torreira, as a) someone who’s at the age where he can slot in right away, and b) more of the style that we obviously need in our midfield.

Dragomir and Dasilva might be more inclined to resign now that this guy isn’t going to arrive and block them off.

The whole deal just reminded me of the Anelka brothers…
